After more than four decades of inactivity, the Corvo uranium project in Saskatchewan's prolific Athabasca Basin is witnessing its inaugural drilling program. Canadian uranium explorer Aventis Energy has launched a 3,000-meter campaign targeting the Manhattan Zone, an area characterized by exceptional surface samples that has never before been drill-tested.

The company secured the necessary capital for this ambitious move in late 2025, raising approximately CAD 2.5 million via flow-through private placements priced at CAD 0.41 per share. These funds are designated specifically for the ongoing exploration activities. The operational green light was given with the receipt of 18-month permits in November 2025, authorizing both geophysical work and diamond drilling operations.

Initial insights are being gathered through downhole gamma-ray logging and visual geological analysis conducted during the drilling process. Definitive assay results from laboratory analysis are anticipated by the end of the first quarter of 2026. The core objective is to determine whether the high-grade surface expressions continue at depth, potentially indicating a discovery of economic significance.

Prime Geology and Compelling Surface Data

The Corvo project's location is strategically significant, situated roughly 60 kilometers east of Cameco's high-producing McArthur River Mine and 45 kilometers northeast of Atha Energy's Gemini mineralization zone. The selection of the Manhattan Zone for this historic drill program was driven by remarkable findings from the 2025 field season:

  • Rock samples returning peak values of 8.10% U₃O₈.
  • Historical samples showing uranium concentrations as high as 59,800 ppm.
  • Geophysical surveys outlining over 29 kilometers of conductive structures.
  • More than 5,000 gravity measurements completed in Q4 2025.

Aventis Energy employed an integrated exploration strategy. Airborne electromagnetic surveys helped delineate conductive anomalies stretching for several kilometers. Subsequent high-resolution gravity surveying revealed density variations suggestive of hydrothermal alteration systems—key geological indicators often associated with high-grade uranium mineralization.
