A stock that ten analysts collectively rate a "Strong Buy" and target above €31 is trading at barely €13.67 — a gap of more than 130% that encapsulates the central tension surrounding the Czechoslovak Group. On Friday the Prague-based defence and munitions firm closed up 1.17%, a modest bounce that did little to alter the broader picture. The shares have shed 6.32% over the past week and 4.71% over the past month, leaving them 62% below the January 2026 record of €36.05. After hitting a 52-week low of €12.20 on 26 June, they have recovered roughly 12%, but remain well below the 50-day moving average of €15.46 and further still from the 100-day average of €20.70.

Behind the price weakness lies a steady stream of operational progress that has so far failed to shift market sentiment. CSG's Polish subsidiary completed a technology transfer for propellant powder to the state-owned manufacturer MESKO, supplying modular charges for 155 mm artillery rounds that fit directly into NATO's push to localise supply chains on its eastern flank. Across the Atlantic, the newly created CSG Land Systems North America, based in Michigan, is bundling three long-standing alliance suppliers — Excalibur Army, Tatra Defence and Tatra Trucks — to push howitzer and military vehicle sales into the US market. To lead the effort, the group has recruited executives from Rheinmetall, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, BAE Systems, General Dynamics and Kongsberg.

Yet governance concerns are undermining the narrative. The most immediate flashpoint is at subsidiary Tatra Trucks, where a planned capital increase of CZK 2.2 billion failed to secure the required 80% shareholder approval at an extraordinary general meeting. Instead, the meeting authorised a large loan from Ytara SPV, a private company controlled by CSG owner Michal Strnad. Minority shareholder Promet Tools voted against the move and has threatened legal action, arguing the arrangement makes Strnad the sole meaningful creditor and could eventually hand him full control of Tatra. That dispute adds to the overhang from a critical report by short-seller Hunterbrook earlier this year, which alleged omissions in the IPO prospectus and understated ownership stakes.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying CSG?

The technical picture offers little reassurance. The 14-day relative strength index sits at 42.4, indicating neutral-to-weak momentum rather than oversold conditions that might trigger a rebound. Annualised 30-day volatility of 51.7% suggests sharp swings are likely to persist. The 50-day average at €15.46 remains the key resistance for any sustained recovery, while the 52-week low of €12.20 acts as a psychological floor. Against that backdrop, the analyst consensus of €31.55 to €32.05 looks almost academic.

Investors are looking to the half-year results due in August for clarity. The report is expected to address the integration of the recently acquired Kinetic Group business and the pace of the North American expansion, as well as reaffirm the full-year guidance. Separately, CSG has proposed a stake in the German-French tank manufacturer KNDS, a politically sensitive move that is likely to face close scrutiny in Paris and Berlin. Any new detail on that front could shift sentiment quickly.

For now, the stock remains caught between an expanding order book and unresolved questions over governance and capital allocation. Until one of the looming catalysts — the half-year numbers, a resolution at Tatra, or a breakthrough on the KNDS front — provides a clear signal, the chasm between analyst optimism and market reality is set to stay the defining feature of CSG's equity story.
