Desert Mountain Energy Restructures with Carbon Capture Pivot and Leadership Change

Desert Mountain Energy is undergoing a sweeping transformation, modernizing aging infrastructure, entering the carbon sequestration market, and reshuffling its executive ranks. Investors have responded enthusiastically, pushing shares nearly 10% higher to €0.24 in Thursday trading.
The company's flagship Pecos-Slope gas system, portions of which have been operational for over 45 years, is getting a major overhaul. Management is replacing miles of pipeline with modern equipment, aiming to slash maintenance costs while boosting helium processing efficiency. Right-of-way acquisitions and pipe purchases are already underway.
In a parallel move, Desert Mountain Energy has established DME Carbon Cap LLC in Wyoming, a majority-owned subsidiary focused on carbon capture and storage projects. The initiative leverages existing plant infrastructure to tap into the growing industrial carbon sequestration market.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Desert Mountain Energy?
On the personnel front, Chief Operating Officer Orr stepped down effective May 5, 2026, to concentrate on UK-based ventures. His departure coincides with the company's push into Devon, England, where subsidiary Desert Energy UK is analyzing soil samples ahead of seismic surveys targeting new noble gas deposits.
Legal developments have also bolstered the company's position. An Arizona appeals court ruled in Desert Mountain Energy's favor in a long-running dispute with the city of Flagstaff, dismissing all claims. While a fresh lawsuit has been filed in federal court, the victory secures the company's regional operational footing. Meanwhile, the company awaits a decision from Arizona's environmental agency on new drilling south of Winslow.
Beyond gas and carbon, Desert Mountain Energy is diversifying into lithium. Through subsidiary DME Energy Resources, it acquired Conductive Energy, a specialist in direct lithium extraction (DLE) technology. An innovation center under the "Empower EIT" initiative has opened in Dallas, targeting commercial-scale lithium production across the United States.
Year-to-date, the stock has gained roughly 85%, trading well above its long-term average of €0.18. The restructured management team is now focused on advancing each project toward its next phase, broadening the company's commodity base beyond traditional gas operations. Scaling the DLE technology represents the next strategic milestone on that roadmap.
