Deutsche Telekom’s latest share purchases are doing more than quietly shrinking the equity base: they are also keeping the stock on investors’ radar, just as UBS and JPMorgan have both reiterated positive views on the company. The Bonn-based group closed on Friday at 27,00 Euro, up 1,12 Prozent, and has gained 3,05 Prozent over the week.

The buyback itself is moving briskly. Between 6 and 10 July 2026, Deutsche Telekom repurchased 1.412.830 own shares via Xetra. That brings the total since the programme began on 1 July 2026 to 2.321.535 shares. The daily volumes in that period ranged from around 277.500 to 287.280 shares, with weighted average prices between 25,1569 Euro and 26,0425 Euro. The company said the third tranche, which runs until 30 September 2026, allows for the purchase of up to 23,5 million shares for a maximum of 560 million Euro, exclusively through Xetra.

The wider programme is capped at up to 2 billion Euro and is scheduled to run until the end of 2026. In the first two tranches, the group had already bought shares worth around 1,01 Milliarden Euro. Most of the stock repurchased in the current programme is intended for cancellation, permanently reducing the number of shares outstanding, while a smaller portion will be used for compensation and employee schemes.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

UBS has kept its “Buy” rating in place and continues to see a price target of 36,20 Euro. JPMorgan has likewise maintained its “Overweight” stance with a target of 40 Euro. UBS points to solid business in Germany and resilient trends in the US, while JPMorgan cites the restructuring at T-Mobile US and Deutsche Telekom’s continuing share buybacks.

The market has also tracked the stock against its recent trading range. At 27,00 Euro, the share price sits about 21,4 Prozent below the 52-week high of 34,35 Euro reached on 27 February 2026. The RSI stands at 55,6, indicating a neutral reading rather than an overbought or oversold one. Against the 52-week low of 23,54 Euro marked at the end of June, the share is still around 14,74 Prozent higher.

Two dates are likely to shape the next phase of trading. T-Mobile US reports second-quarter numbers on 23 July, followed by Deutsche Telekom’s own interim report on 6 August. Until then, the buyback programme remains a key source of support, while debate over the group’s holding structure is set to stay part of the market conversation.

One side issue, however, remains unresolved in the background. In Podgorica, Montenegro’s supreme court has said there is no doubt that the statute of limitations has not expired in the so-called “Telekom case,” which dates back to the 2005 privatisation and concerns alleged bribery involving a former Telekom subsidiary. The US Securities and Exchange Commission had already raised bribery allegations in 2012. The case involves six people, including former Montenegrin president Milo ?ukanovi?, and the investigating judge says proceedings will continue pending a new filing from the protection officer.
