More than 20,000 apprenticeship positions in Germany's skilled trades sector are still waiting to be filled, even as the number of new contracts signed this year has climbed sharply. Between January and June 2026, companies across the country registered 67,800 new training agreements — a 4.9 percent increase over the same period in 2025.
