Nebius Group has delivered a vivid reminder that in the world of high-growth AI infrastructure, mood swings are as extreme as the build costs. After a punishing month that wiped out more than a third of the stock’s value, a $775 million secured credit facility triggered a sudden reversal on Friday, lifting shares by nearly 7% to €160.58. The bounce came just a day after the stock had plunged almost 14%, leaving investors to weigh whether the rally signals a genuine turning point or merely a breather in a brutal downtrend.

The credit line, Nebius’s first secured debt raising, is backed by installed GPU hardware and contractual payment streams from a client with investment-grade credit. It matures on 31 October 2030 and carries a rate of SOFR plus 250 basis points. The company said that together with cash flows from the underlying customer contract — already in the servicing phase — the facility covers more than 100% of the required GPU infrastructure investment. That gives Nebius flexibility to channel fresh capital into expanding capacity for AI-native and enterprise clients without issuing more equity and diluting existing shareholders.

What triggered the prior day’s 14% sell-off was not bad news, but rather a lack of good enough news. Nebius had unveiled a new “asset-light” partnership model under which third-party infrastructure partners would finance, build and operate data centres, while Nebius contributes only its software platform and system architecture. In theory, the approach reduces the company’s capital burden and accelerates growth. In practice, the market was underwhelmed because Nebius disclosed no partner names, no capacity figures, no revenue-sharing percentages, and no updated 2026 investment outlook. The gap between a promising concept and concrete numbers left traders questioning just how much financial relief the model will deliver in the near term.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

Still, the demand side of the equation remains formidable. Nebius holds a contract with Reflection AI valued at over $1 billion and running through 2029, and the company’s total order backlog stands at roughly $50 billion. Cloud capacity is often sold out before construction is complete. Yet investors are increasingly focused on the cost of turning that backlog into revenue. With annualised 30-day volatility hovering around 105%, the stock has become a leveraged bet on the entire AI-infrastructure theme. When sentiment on financing conditions sours, Nebius gets hit harder than most.

Chart-watchers see a mixed technical picture. The stock currently sits 40.40% below its 52-week high of €261.00, reached on 22 June, and trades 18.98% under its 50-day moving average of €198.20. The long-term trend remains intact: shares are 34.60% above their 200-day average of €119.30. The 14-day relative strength index has recovered to 39.4, climbing from deeply oversold territory but still far from signalling a sustained recovery.

The next major catalyst is the second-quarter earnings report due on 6 August 2026. Analysts project a loss of $0.73 per share on revenue of $576.67 million — a more than fivefold jump from the $105.10 million reported in the same quarter last year. Whether the Friday rebound turns into a lasting rally will depend heavily on how much detail management provides on the asset-light model and its capital expenditure plans.

Nebius faces an unusual challenge: proving it can marry relentless expansion with the discipline the capital markets now demand. The new credit line and the partnership blueprint are early answers, but until the market sees the numbers behind the vision, the stock is likely to remain a high-wire act.
