A stark divide has opened up at Nebius. On one side, the Dutch AI infrastructure company is pulling in fresh capital through secured debt and long-term customer contracts without issuing new equity. On the other, its stock has shed more than a third of its value over the past month, leaving investors to weigh structural financing progress against persistent volatility.

The most recent move came on July 20, 2026, when the shares jumped 5.79% — their best single-day gain in weeks. That rebound followed a spate of analyst upgrades, most notably from Freedom Capital Markets, where analyst Paul Meeks raised his rating from Hold to Buy and lifted the price target from $159 to $200. Meeks argued that the stock’s 40% slide from its June 22 peak of $299.86 had already priced in much of the downside, and he introduced a new valuation framework based on four to six times expected 2028 EV/EBITDA, projecting revenue would multiply 41-fold between 2025 and 2028.

Northland Securities went even further, reaffirming an Outperform rating and raising its target from $248 to $410 — implying upside of more than 130%. But the analyst consensus remains fragmented: Bank of America recommends buying with a $280 target, Cantor Fitzgerald is more cautious at Overweight with $129, and DA Davidson downgraded to Neutral with a $250 target. A Seeking Alpha contributor also upgraded the stock on the recent weakness.

Underpinning the bullish bets are financial results that, while still loss-making, show explosive growth. Nebius generated $399 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2026, up 684% year over year, and the net loss per share of minus $0.23 came in well ahead of analyst estimates for a loss of $0.81. Freedom Capital expects sequential revenue to accelerate — $586 million, $916 million, and $1.52 billion — implying quarterly growth rates of 47%, 57%, and 66%.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

These growth projections rest on a foundation of long-term, contractually secured revenue. Nebius has booked more than $40 billion in committed revenue from Microsoft and Meta alone, including a multi-year agreement with Microsoft valued at $17 billion. On July 14, the company added a $1 billion computing capacity deal with Reflection AI, and three days later it closed a $775 million secured credit facility. The loan, which runs until October 2030 and carries an interest rate of SOFR plus 2.50 percentage points, is backed by already-deployed GPU infrastructure and customer payment rights. Nebius says its operating cash flow from customers exceeds 100% of planned capital expenditures — a claim that, if sustained, would allow expansion without shareholder dilution.

The capital demands of the business remain enormous, however. Nebius expects capital expenditures between $20 billion and $25 billion for 2026, with some estimates settling around $22.5 billion. For 2025, the company reported $529.8 million in revenue and a net loss of $446.7 million. The forward multiple — roughly 70 times past earnings — keeps the valuation in aggressive territory, and analysts openly debate whether the combination of high growth, high debt, and ambitious pricing is more opportunity than risk. Key uncertainties include GPU utilization rates, future margin trends, and overall execution.

Institutional investors appear to be betting on execution. WCM Investment Management increased its stake by 264.7% in the first quarter, to 595,840 shares worth $61.82 million. SEB Asset Management bought 394,010 shares for $40.88 million, and State Street expanded its position by 2,391.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025 to 3.22 million shares valued at $269.47 million. Jennison Associates opened a new position of 1.7 million shares, worth about $176.4 million. The overall institutional ownership stands at 21.9%.

Against that institutional buying, insider selling continues. Nebius executives sold approximately 668,405 shares worth between $140 million and $142 million over the past three months. CEO Arkadiy Volozh sold 46,627 shares on July 1 at $235.45, CTO Danila Shtan sold the same number at the same price, and other insiders made similarly timed disposals. The insider activity contrasts with the long-term contracts and asset-backed financing, creating a mixed signal for smaller shareholders.

Nebius at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

On the physical infrastructure side, Nebius is also addressing one of the sector’s most pressing bottlenecks: power supply. On July 16, Industrial Development Funding and Oaktree announced a $1.7 billion investment in Bloom Energy fuel cells to provide dedicated behind-the-meter electricity for Nebius’s AI cloud expansion. Morgan Stanley is acting as the tax-equity investor, and MUFG is providing senior debt. Industrial Development Funding now holds a Bloom Energy project portfolio worth more than $2.6 billion — a sign of how deeply AI’s energy appetite is reshaping the financing structures of the entire industry.

Despite the flurry of announcements, stock performance remains choppy. Even after the 5.79% gain on July 20, the shares still languish 36.97% below the 52-week high. Over the trailing 30 days, the stock lost 33.18%, and the cumulative decline from the June all-time high of €261 (the equivalent of $299.86) stands at roughly 40%. Analysts tracked by consensus data offer nine Buy and six Hold ratings, with an average price target of $203.25 — a level that suggests further upside if the company can keep executing on its capital-light transition and massive contract backlog.
