Palantir has staged a sharp recovery over the past seven trading sessions, with shares climbing nearly 13% to close at €112.28 on Friday. The bounce masks a deeper struggle: the stock remains almost 38% below its November record high, and the annualized 30-day volatility of 64.5% underscores just how little consensus exists over its fair value. The driver of this latest whiplash is a combination of strategic shifts and fresh government contracts that are recasting the company’s narrative around artificial intelligence.

The most significant catalyst is a radical overhaul of Palantir’s AI architecture. CEO Alex Karp confirmed that the company is integrating Nvidia’s open-source “Nemotron” models into its government platforms, replacing proprietary AI systems. Karp has been sharply critical of traditional token-based pricing models, arguing they are unsustainable for large enterprises and sovereign clients. By allowing customers to run the Nvidia models locally on their own hardware, Palantir is betting on total data sovereignty—a pitch that resonates deeply with defense and intelligence agencies operating in classified networks.

That pitch has already paid off. The US Army selected Palantir Foundry as the central cloud data foundation for its next-generation command-and-control system, widely regarded as the Pentagon’s most important modernization initiative. The contract adds heft to an already strong pipeline: Palantir’s total revenue surged 85% to $1.63 billion, with its US commercial business more than doubling to a 133% growth rate. Management has guided for fiscal 2026 revenue as high as $7.66 billion, a target that would require flawless execution in the quarters ahead.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Palantir?

The deal flow prompted DA Davidson analyst Gil Luria to upgrade the stock from Neutral to Buy and lift his price target to $175 (roughly €161.50). Luria believes Palantir has finally grown into its valuation, citing accelerating profitability and a clear competitive advantage in AI orchestration that allows it to outpace peers like Snowflake and Datadog. The upgrade follows a brutal correction that had knocked the stock down by nearly 38% from its 52-week high, and it aligns with the broader analyst consensus target of €159.71—implying upside of more than 42% from current levels.

Yet the technical picture tells a more cautious story. The stock is closing in on its 50-day moving average of €115.34, a level that has acted as resistance in the recent downtrend. The relative strength index sits at a neutral 51.8–52, indicating the momentum has stabilized but lacks conviction. The 200-day moving average at €134.60 remains a formidable barrier, sitting 16% above the current price. A break above that line would signal a genuine reversal; failure risks retesting the June low of €93.30.

Palantir’s commercial expansion is no longer a sideshow. The company is scaling its non-government business at a pace that few enterprise software firms can match, and the partnerships with Nvidia, Surf Air Mobility, and Zeta Global are broadening its addressable market. But the market has front-loaded enormous expectations into the share price, leaving no room for operational stumbles. Every quarterly print and every contract announcement will be scrutinized against the lofty guidance.

For now, the shares are in a holding pattern—buoyed by solid fundamentals and fresh strategic wins, yet capped by a persistent downtrend and a valuation that demands perfection. Whether the new deals mark a lasting inflection point or merely another short-lived impulse will likely be decided in the coming weeks. The 200-day moving average is the line that separates a genuine recovery from another leg lower.
