The telehealth provider Hims & Hers finds itself navigating a complex landscape of robust financial growth and emerging regulatory challenges. While the company's latest earnings report showcased significant expansion, its forward outlook has been dampened by a weak forecast and the revelation of an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Financial Performance Shows Substantial Growth

For the full 2025 fiscal year, Hims & Hers reported revenue of $2.35 billion, supported by a subscriber base exceeding 2.5 million, which represents a 13 percent increase. The company’s fourth-quarter results were particularly strong, with sales climbing 28 percent to $617.8 million. Earnings per share came in at $0.08, surpassing analyst expectations of $0.05.

International operations experienced explosive growth, surging 825 percent during Q4 to reach $63.7 million. Furthermore, the company’s weight management segment achieved an annual revenue run rate of $100 million within just seven months of operation.

A Disappointing Forecast and Regulatory Headwinds

Management's guidance for the first quarter of 2026 has disappointed market observers. The company anticipates revenue in the range of $600 million to $625 million, falling notably short of the consensus analyst estimate of $653 million. This revision is primarily attributed to a $65 million business impact stemming from regulatory changes concerning the distribution of compounded semaglutide.

These challenges follow a February 2025 announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declaring an end to the semaglutide shortage, which subsequently restricted the legal framework for certain compounded versions of the drug. In a related development, a $49 pill containing the GLP-1 agonist had to be withdrawn shortly after its market launch.

SEC Inquiry and Strategic Moves

Adding to the company's pressures, its annual report disclosed a formal inquiry by the SEC. The investigation focuses on public statements and disclosures made by the company regarding its compounded weight-loss medications. Concurrently, Hims & Hers is involved in a patent lawsuit initiated by pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk.

Notably, corporate insiders sold shares worth more than $30 million before information regarding the regulatory probe became public.

In response to these developments, Hims & Hers has announced a strategic acquisition, agreeing to purchase the Australian digital health platform Eucalyptus for $1.15 billion. Company leadership has emphasized that only a small fraction of its user base relies on the controversial GLP-1-based treatments. Looking ahead to the full 2026 year, the company is targeting revenue between $2.7 billion and $2.9 billion.
