Siemens Energy Faces a Pivotal Week as Analysts Raise Targets and Rebranding Cuts Costs
Published on 07/26/2026 at 18:52 | Redaktion boerse-global.deThe countdown to Siemens Energy’s third-quarter earnings report on August 5 is intensifying, with the stock caught between a sector-wide selloff and a flurry of bullish analyst upgrades. The shares closed Friday at €150.70, roughly 23% below the April record of €195.54, after disappointing results from US rival GE Vernova triggered a rout across energy technology stocks. Yet several major banks are now signaling that the weakness is a buying opportunity.
Analysts Bet on Gas Turbine Strength and Grid Momentum
UBS analyst Christopher Leonard raised his price target from €175 to €210, reaffirming a buy rating that implies roughly 37% upside from current levels. The upgrade reflects sustained strength in the gas turbine business, with Leonard lifting his profit forecasts through 2029 by an average of 11%. JPMorgan went even further, maintaining its overweight rating with a target of €235 and describing the recent pullback as an entry point.
Deutsche Bank also chimed in with a buy recommendation and a €200 target, noting that expectations for GE Vernova had been excessively high ahead of its numbers. The consensus estimate across analysts now sits at around €190, still pointing to meaningful upside.
The stock’s Relative Strength Index of 45 suggests the market has yet to fully digest the conflicting signals — sector weakness on one hand and analyst optimism on the other.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?
A €300 Million Annual Saving from the Omterra Rebrand
Beyond the earnings catalyst, Siemens Energy is undergoing a fundamental corporate transformation. The company confirmed Sunday that it will drop the Siemens name and rebrand as Omterra, with the wind turbine unit Siemens Gamesa also coming under the new banner. CEO Christian Bruch said the move stems from a time-limited licensing agreement with Siemens AG, and the transition will begin in phases later this calendar year.
The financial impact is substantial. According to Wirtschaftswoche, the rebrand eliminates annual licensing fees of roughly €300 million that Siemens Energy had been paying to use the Siemens name. While the magazine criticized the new moniker as unremarkable, the cost saving is a tangible benefit for shareholders.
Buyback Program Presses Ahead
The company continues to execute its share repurchase plan, buying back 715,450 shares between July 13 and 19 — the seventh weekly update since the program launched on June 4, 2026. Total repurchases now stand at 3,934,455 shares, executed across multiple trading venues with a focus on Xetra and European multilateral platforms. The broader program targets up to €6 billion in buybacks by the end of fiscal 2028, with the first tranche of up to €2 billion running through September 30, 2026.
Grid Orders Get a Boost from North Sea Link
Operationally, the grid business received a fresh tailwind. Transmission system operator 50Hertz awarded a consortium of Siemens Energy and Neptun Smulders Offshore Renewables the contract for the converter system of the North Sea Connector 2. The onshore converter will be built near Schwerin as part of the NordOstLink high-voltage direct current project, with manufacturing in Rostock expected to create more than 500 jobs. The offshore platform will be installed in the North Sea, with completion targeted for 2034. A related project, North Sea Connector 1, is reportedly already under negotiation.
Siemens Energy at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The contract adds to a growing pipeline of grid expansion deals that underscore Siemens Energy’s role in Europe’s power transmission upgrade.
What to Watch on August 5
With annualized volatility running at roughly 52%, the stock is primed for sharp moves ahead of the earnings release. Investors will focus on two key areas: order intake in the grid segment and any adjustments to the full-year guidance. The rebranding to Omterra will remain a parallel narrative, but the numbers will ultimately determine whether the analyst optimism is justified or whether the GE Vernova contagion has further to run.
