Siemens Energy: Offshore Mega-Contract and Corporate Slimming Plans Power Shares Higher

Siemens Energy has clocked a 10% gain in just seven trading sessions, propelled by a potent combination of a multi-billion-euro offshore wind order and renewed speculation that the industrial group could hive off a major division. The stock now trades around 170 euros, having reclaimed its 50-day moving average of 169.36 euros, and sits on a year-to-date advance of 38.44%.

The immediate catalyst came from two directions almost simultaneously. First, a consortium comprising Siemens Energy and Neptun Smulders won the mandate from grid operator 50Hertz to build a 2-GW offshore converter platform known as the North Sea Connector 2. The overall project package is valued at roughly 2.5 billion euros, with commissioning scheduled for the end of 2034 and 95% of the value-add to be retained in Germany. Second, media reports — notably from Manager Magazin — suggested that the company is exploring a spin-off of its Transformation of Industry (ToI) unit, which houses the compressors and steam turbines business. The company has not officially confirmed the plans, but the market has seized on the prospect of a leaner, more focused Siemens Energy.

Analysts are warming to the structural play. Jefferies’ Lucas Ferhani reiterated a Buy recommendation with a price target of 215 euros, arguing that shedding ToI would sharpen the group’s focus on gas turbines and grid technology, potentially unlocking a re-rating and creating headroom for future dividends. The assessment won backing from Deutsche Bank, which noted that a separation would sustainably lift the margin profile of the remaining operations. JPMorgan is even more bullish, pencilling in a target of 225 euros — well above the market consensus of around 186 euros.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

Yet the valuation leaves little room for error. At roughly 60 times estimated earnings, the shares are priced for perfection. The price-to-book ratio stands at 12, a multiple that even a record order book struggles to justify without a clean conversion of backlog into double-digit margins. The recovery of Siemens Gamesa, the troubled wind-turbine subsidiary, remains the most prominent wild card; it has repeatedly forced earnings downgrades in the past.

Technically, the stock has shown resilience. It now trades 22.56% above its 200-day moving average of 138.70 euros, and a weekly chart has formed a Morning Star pattern that chartists interpret as a signal for further upside. Near-term resistance sits at 182.47 euros, with a break above that level opening the path to the all-time high of 195.54 euros. The key support to hold is the 50-day line around 169.36 euros; below that, the 38-week line at 140.76 euros would become the last line of defence.

The next major inflection point comes in August 2026, when Siemens Energy reports third-quarter results. Investors will be watching for cash-flow trends and any formal commentary on the portfolio structure. If the spin-off speculation solidifies into a concrete plan, the share price could see another leg higher. If management remains silent, the recent rally may quickly cool. For now, the bull case rests on two pillars: a massive offshore order that underpins long-term utilisation, and the promise of a simpler corporate structure that could justify a higher multiple. Both are necessary; neither is guaranteed.
