The Swedish photonics and wireless technology specialist Sivers Semiconductors has seen its stock shed nearly two-thirds of its value in just 30 days, a dizzying reversal for a name that had been one of the hottest plays on the Nasdaq Stockholm’s AI infrastructure theme. The shares closed at €2.83 on Friday, capping a 60.69% decline over the period, and the selling pressure shows no clear sign of abating.

The catalyst for the sell-off was the expiration of a lock-up agreement on July 16, which had been tied to a directed share placement completed in April. Once the restriction lifted, board members moved quickly to reduce their positions. Director Todd Thomson and Chairman Bami Bastani both offloaded substantial blocks of stock, and with a relatively thin order book and little institutional buying to absorb the supply, the shares took a beating. On Friday alone, the stock dropped 6.35%.

Technical Damage and a Coming Blackout

The rout has pushed the stock deep into oversold territory. The relative strength index now sits at 35.4, a level that typically signals a short-term bounce may be due, but for a volatile small-cap name, it can also simply indicate persistent downward momentum. Chartists also note that the stock has broken its medium-term uptrend channel, leaving the near-term direction highly uncertain.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Sivers Semiconductors?

Compounding the uncertainty, the company enters a mandatory trading blackout on Tuesday, July 28. Under Article 19(11) of the EU Market Abuse Regulation, Sivers’ management and board will be barred from any transactions in the company’s shares until the release of the second-quarter interim report on August 27. That means the market will lose one of its most closely watched sentiment signals — insider buying or selling — for the next month.

A Year of Extremes

The 2026 price action has been extraordinary even by the standards of microcap semiconductor stocks. Earlier this year, Sivers rode a wave of euphoria around AI data centers and satellite communications, delivering an explosive rally that made it a favorite among retail and momentum traders. That enthusiasm has evaporated just as quickly as it appeared, leaving a pattern of violent swings rather than any sustained direction.

The upcoming quarterly report on August 27 should provide some clarity. Investors are waiting for updates on the company’s so-called “opportunity pipeline,” which management pegged at $799 million in May, as well as progress on a planned secondary listing on the Nasdaq, targeted for late 2026 or early 2027. CEO Vickram Vathulya has noted that the company is aligning its financial reporting with U.S. PCAOB auditing standards, a necessary step for the American listing.

Until then, with the blackout period silencing insider activity and no fresh corporate news expected, the stock’s direction will likely be dictated by the broader mood toward AI and semiconductor names. Whether the selling has run its course or the trend break signals further downside is a question that won’t be answered until the numbers are out.
