Vincorion's Trade-Show Blitz Can't Shake the Lock-Up Albatross

Defence contractor Vincorion posts record orders and revenue growth, but shares tumble 31% from highs as market fears STAR Capital's lock-up expiry in 2026 could flood thin float.

Vincorion's Record Orders Can't Halt Stock Slide Amid Lock-Up Overhang

A month after clinching SDAX promotion and reporting a 40% revenue surge, Vincorion finds itself in an uncomfortable position: operational records on one side of the ledger, a stock that has shed nearly a third of its value on the other. The defence contractor’s appearance at two major industry events in rapid succession — this week’s HHO Symposium in Rheinmünster and next month’s Eurosatory in Paris — underscores a management team working every channel to convert technical visibility into tangible orders. Yet the market remains fixated on a structural overhang that could flood the thin float with shares as soon as autumn 2026.

The company’s order book tells a story of relentless demand. Vincorion entered the year with a backlog of €1.2 billion, enough to cover almost the entire 2026 revenue target of up to €320 million. First-quarter sales climbed to roughly €69 million and adjusted operating profit rose 30%, helped by maintenance contracts that now contribute 55% of revenue. Three production sites — Altenstadt, Essen and Wedel — are being expanded without external borrowing; management insists the build-out is fully self-funded from operating cash flow.

That operational firepower has not translated into market momentum. Shares closed Wednesday at €16.25, down 8.3% over the past week and 13% over the past month. The stock now sits 31% below its 52-week high of €23.78 reached on 6 May, and just 6% above the year’s low of €15.32. With a relative-strength index of 32 signalling deeply oversold conditions, the technical picture is stretched. The 50-day moving average of €18.14 lies more than 10% above the current price — a bearish cross that typically keeps institutional buyers on the sidelines.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vincorion?

Tuesday’s HHO Symposium, hosted by the DRF Luftrettung at Baden Airpark, offered Vincorion a platform to update industry insiders on its Sky Hoist 800 electric rescue winch — capable of lifting 350 kilograms at two metres per second over 120 metres of cable. But the company was careful not to overstate the significance. No new contract or certification was announced; it remains a technical briefing for maintenance specialists and air-rescue operators. On a separate track, the ERH premierV programme — an MoU signed with Heli-One Norway on 8 May covering joint market launch, certification and lifecycle support — continues to advance, though it too awaits verifiable milestones.

The next big test comes mid-June at Eurosatory in Paris, where Vincorion will showcase its mechatronic tactical-power solutions. The defence fair attracts procurement officials from across Europe and the Middle East, and management is eager to position itself close to upcoming acquisition programmes. A fresh order announcement on the show floor could provide the short-term catalyst that the technical indicators are currently unable to generate.

But the shadow that looms largest over the stock is the expiry of the lock-up agreement covering STAR Capital’s 47.5% stake. That lock-up runs out in the second half of 2026, and in a stock with limited free float, even a partial sale by the private-equity owner would exert heavy downward pressure. The August release of half-year results will be crucial: investors want proof that the cash-flow generation can withstand the heavy capital expenditure and turn positive. If Vincorion can demonstrate that, the lock-up threat — still more than a year away — may begin to lose its sting.
