Vincorion’s shares have retreated to within a few cents of their €17.00 initial public offering price, a puzzling outcome for a company that just reported a 42% revenue surge and holds an order book worth €1.2 billion. The stock slipped 3.5% to €17.11 on Friday, leaving it just 0.6% above the March listing price and more than 28% below the May high of €23.78. The weakness comes despite what analysts describe as an exceptionally strong operational update.

The defense contractor’s preliminary half-year figures showed second-quarter revenue climbing 44.5% year-on-year to €81.2 million, lifting first-half sales to €150.2 million from €105.5 million. Management reaffirmed its full-year guidance of €280 million to €320 million in revenue with an adjusted EBIT margin of 18% to 19%. Crucially, the company said firm orders already cover more than 90% of that projected 2026 sales total, underlining the visibility executives have been touting since the IPO.

Berenberg responded to the numbers by raising its price target on Vincorion from €26.00 to €27.00 on July 14, maintaining a “Buy” rating. The analyst note came roughly a week before the stock’s current downdraft, highlighting a disconnect between the fundamental story and the market’s near-term mood. The shares have been volatile – annualized 30-day volatility stands at 54.26% – and the 50-day moving average of €17.77 now sits 3.7% above the latest close.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vincorion?

Traders attribute the latest pullback to profit-taking after the stock’s strong run in the months following the IPO, compounded by nagging uncertainty over the lock-up agreement for majority shareholder STAR Capital. The private equity firm, which still holds roughly 47.5% of Vincorion, has a 180-day lock-up period that expires this autumn. While no decision to sell has been announced, the mere possibility of a large block hitting the market tends to cap upside for newly listed names. The company’s inclusion in the SDAX index, effective June 22, has also introduced index-related flows that can amplify short-term swings.

Investors now have a clear calendar of events that could either reinforce the bullish thesis or deepen the caution. The full half-year financial report is due on August 13, followed by the third-quarter update on November 11. Between those dates, the lock-up expiry will keep the overhang topic front of mind. Vincorion’s IPO in March saw 20,297,500 shares placed from STAR Capital’s holdings, with cornerstone investors Fidelity International, Invesco Asset Management and T. Rowe Price committing around €105 million. After opening at €19.30 and climbing to its May peak, the stock has given back most of those gains – leaving the next catalysts to determine whether the operational momentum can finally translate into lasting share price appreciation.
