01 Quantum Shares Reverse Course as Secure AI Patent Takes Hold
Published on 09/30/2026 at 18:20 | Editorial boerse-global.deA sharp intraday turnaround lifted 01 Quantum's stock into positive territory on Wednesday, erasing an earlier slump after the company's newly granted US patent began drawing attention from traders.
The equity had been languishing 9.3 percent in the red before buyers stepped in, pushing the price to EUR 0.4095 — a gain of 7.1 percent on the day. The catalyst traces back to news, announced a day earlier, that the United States Patent and Trademark Office had awarded the firm a protective right covering its "Secure AI Operations" technology.
Registered under number 12,744,764 B1, the patent locks down core procedures for handling artificial intelligence input data while encryption remains intact throughout the process. According to media accounts, the document also extends to applications for a safeguarded marketplace for AI models. This intellectual property forms the backbone of 01 Quantum's product lineup in the secure AI architecture segment.
From Trade Show Floor to Technology Alliance
The patent's arrival caps a stretch of operational activity for the company. On Tuesday, 01 Quantum took part in the GCXpo 2026 industry exhibition, having been selected for participation by economic development organization Invest Ottawa — a decision made public on 22 September.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying 01 Quantum?
At the event, the company ran live demonstrations of quantum-safe, fully homomorphic encryption applied to AI workloads. The showcase included image recognition using encrypted prompts, secure data exchange methods and anomaly detection approaches. The patented technology is designed to allow computationally heavy AI operations to run without ever decrypting sensitive datasets mid-process — a capability aimed squarely at long-standing security concerns in cloud and network environments. For enterprises working with proprietary models or confidential customer information, shielding data from leaks during active computation has become an increasingly urgent priority.
Just a week before the patent news, on 15 September, 01 Quantum cemented a formal global technology alliance with Utimaco Inc. in the post-quantum cryptography field. The partnership centers on pairing 01 Quantum's own PQC software and cryptographic detection capabilities with Utimaco's security technologies. The two sides intend to collaborate closely on technical integration, solution design and joint customer projects.
Leadership Transition and Quarterly Momentum
On the executive front, the company named Jeffrey Kilborn as Chief Financial Officer on 17 September. He takes over from Brian Stringer, who has retired but will remain with the firm in an advisory capacity to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. Kilborn now oversees financial management as the company moves to commercialize its newly secured patent rights.
Roughly three weeks earlier, 01 Quantum had reported results for its third fiscal quarter of 2026, which closed on 31 July. Management pointed to momentum in the operating business and headway in existing partnerships across both the post-quantum cryptography and secure AI segments.
With a market capitalization of EUR 38.48 million, the company now faces a familiar test: whether the freshly protected patents and the Utimaco cooperation can be converted into firm orders and revenue. That question looms large for market participants as the year progresses.
