2G Energy Crosses €1 Billion Market Cap as US Data Center Orders Fuel a Sevenfold Quarterly Surge

The German cogeneration specialist has broken through a symbolic valuation threshold, with its shares climbing 8.6 percent to €61.00 on Wednesday and pushing the company's market capitalization above the €1 billion mark. The rally caps a remarkable stretch for the Heek-based manufacturer, whose order pipeline has been transformed by the insatiable energy demands of American data centers.
The catalyst for the latest leg higher came from the company's confirmation of explosive order momentum, alongside technological breakthroughs in alternative fuels that position 2G Energy squarely in the crosshairs of the global data center buildout.
The Numbers Behind the Surge
The second quarter of 2026 delivered what the company described as a historic order intake. New business hit €422.4 million, a near-sevenfold jump from the €54.1 million booked in the same period a year earlier. For the first half of 2026, cumulative orders reached €479.4 million, up sharply from €110.7 million in the prior-year period.
US data centers alone contributed €350.3 million of the quarterly total. Yet the growth story extends beyond North America: orders from other regions climbed 57 percent to €72 million, underscoring that demand for the company's combined heat and power (CHP) systems is broadening rather than concentrating.
Management has held firm on its 2026 guidance, targeting revenue of €490 million with an EBIT margin between 9.5 and 10.5 percent. Looking further out, the company is aiming for sales of up to €620 million in 2027, with margins expected to exceed 11 percent.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying 2G Energy?
Ammonia Breakthrough in Houston
Alongside the order bonanza, 2G Energy has made tangible progress on the technology front. Working with partner Amogy, the company announced on August 3 the successful completion of integrated "ammonia-to-power" tests at a facility in Houston. The demonstration paired an Amogy ammonia converter with a 2G Agenitor 412 gas engine, creating a system that can run flexibly on either ammonia or natural gas.
That multi-fuel capability is proving particularly attractive to data center operators seeking low-carbon, baseload-capable power sources. By integrating the Amogy converter into its existing engine architecture, 2G Energy has opened the door to markets increasingly looking at ammonia as a hydrogen carrier — a strategic foothold as the energy transition accelerates.
Shareholder Returns and Insider Confidence
Investors are also being rewarded on the income front. The company has declared a dividend of €0.21 per share for the past fiscal year, with the ex-date set for August 20 and payment due on August 24. Adding to the positive signals, CEO Pablo Hofelich purchased company shares on the open market in July, a mandatory disclosure revealed — a gesture of confidence from the top.
The current momentum builds on a 2025 fiscal year that, while operationally solid, carried some blemishes. Total output rose more than 12 percent to €409.2 million, but the EBIT margin came in at 6.6 percent, weighed down by one-off costs and the implementation of a new ERP system. Those headwinds are now expected to fade as the company scales into its record order book.
What's Next
The market's attention now turns to the company's capital markets day, scheduled for October 1, where management is expected to elaborate on its long-term strategy. Analysts have taken note of the developments: First Berlin Equity Research issued an "Add" rating with a price target of €73.00 on July 10.
With the shares having gained 63.16 percent since the start of the year — and the stock now trading at €61.00, up 2.14 percent on the day — the market is clearly pricing in the transformation underway at 2G Energy. The question is whether the production capacity in Heek can keep pace with an order book that has grown sevenfold in a single quarter.
