Allianz has bought back 6,247,961 shares since March 13, 2026, while naming new CEOs at Allianz Partners and Allianz Direct.

Allianz has been steadily shrinking its share count while rearranging the top ranks of its subsidiaries, a twin-track approach that leaves the Munich insurer with a firmer per-share earnings base heading into its next set of results.

The group picked up another 182,616 of its own shares on September 21 and 22, lifting the cumulative total since the program began on March 13, 2026 to 6,247,961 papers. Buybacks of this kind trim the number of shares in circulation, which flatters earnings per share, and management frames the steady repurchases as a signal of dependable capital returns. The stock changed hands at EUR 420.80 in today's session, a modest gain of 0.4 percent.

That buyback activity has not insulated the shares from a softer stretch. Over the past 30 days the stock has shed 6.3 percent, leaving it at EUR 418.90 at one point, and it sits 7.8 percent below its 52-week high — a gap that points to cautious positioning among investors. Roughly two weeks ago, when the buyback was last in focus, the price has since given up 2.9 percent. Since the start of the year, however, the shares remain up 7.4 percent.

Jefferies Pushes Back on AI Disruption Narrative

Part of the recent weakness has been tied to worries that artificial intelligence and new digital channels could erode the traditional way policies are sold. Analyst Philip Kett of Jefferies considers that reaction overdone. The brokerage carries a "Hold" rating on the stock with a price target of EUR 420, arguing that any distribution threat is offset by concrete efficiency gains — chiefly lower acquisition costs and the sheer scale of Allianz's operations, which should absorb competitive pressure and underpin group profitability.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?

Leadership Changes Across Subsidiaries

Behind the scenes, the group has set in motion a broad set of management changes that will define the profile of its units over the coming months. Philipp Kroetz takes over as chief executive of Allianz Partners effective November 1, 2026. Laurent Floquet steps into the CEO role at Allianz Direct, succeeding Kroetz, while Tomas Kunzmann is slated to move onto the board of Allianz SE on January 1, 2027. All of the appointments remain subject to approval from the relevant supervisory authorities. In Switzerland, a separate handover is under way: Monika Behr is leaving Allianz Suisse, with Verena Jäger set to take charge of the life business.

Fresh Capital for Indian Joint Venture

Abroad, the insurer continues to expand. According to media reports, Allianz Europe B.V. and Jio Financial Services each injected 320.05 crore rupees into their joint subsidiary Jio Allianz General Insurance. The proceeds of the rights issue, totaling 640.10 crore rupees, are earmarked to fund ongoing operations.

Closer to home, the company has broadened its service offering. Private customers without standalone legal protection can now access telephone legal advice, with up to two consultations permitted per insurance year for an annual premium of EUR 8.90.

Wealth Report Sets the Macro Backdrop

On September 29, Allianz used its Global Wealth Report 2026 to put the macroeconomic picture in perspective, pegging global household financial assets at EUR 268.4 trillion for 2025 — an increase of 8.6 percent across the nearly 60 countries surveyed.

For a clearer read on how the operating business is holding up against market-wide cost and technology trends, investors will look to the next interim report. On November 12, 2026, Allianz SE will publish its figures for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2026.
