Apex Critical Metals' Nebraska Drill Results Widen Trinity Zone, Yet Shares Wobble
Published on 09/08/2026 at 14:42 | Editorial boerse-global.deThe latest batch of drill data from Apex Critical Metals' Rift rare earth project in southeast Nebraska has stretched the known boundaries of the Trinity Zone by roughly 120 metres — a technical milestone that nonetheless failed to translate into immediate shareholder enthusiasm.
Step-out hole RIFT26-019 returned 197.5 metres grading 2.12% rare earth oxides (REO), including a higher-grade interval of 26.9 metres at 3.15% REO. The intersection pushes the Trinity Zone westward and reinforces the geological model of a deposit that now spans approximately 500 metres along its north-south strike, with mineralisation confirmed to a down-dip depth of around 300 metres.
Market reaction diverges from exploration momentum
Despite the encouraging technical picture, the equity market delivered a mixed verdict. The stock slipped 9.0% on Monday to close at EUR 0.9100, a pullback that sector watchers attributed to profit-taking within a notoriously volatile junior mining space rather than any fundamental reassessment of the project's merits.
That decline followed an earlier session in which the shares had climbed 8.8%, underscoring the two-way trading that has characterised the stock in recent weeks. At its most recent quote of EUR 0.9900, the share price stands a solid distance above its 52-week low of EUR 0.6600 struck on 13 August, yet remains roughly 21% beneath its 200-day moving average of EUR 1.25.
Bulls can point to one encouraging technical signal: the stock continues to trade 5.6% above its 50-day moving average, suggesting medium-term buying interest has not evaporated entirely.

Supporting holes fill in the picture
Beyond the headline intercept, results from holes RIFT26-015 through RIFT26-018 delivered intersections ranging from 33.7 to 77.3 metres, with grades reaching as high as 2.00% REO. These intervals confirm the continuity of mineralisation across the project's southern zone, which remains open in all directions — both laterally and at depth.
The confirmation of key rare earth minerals including monazite and bastnäsite roughly three weeks ago had already bolstered confidence in the project's metallurgical credentials. The current data now add spatial definition to that mineralogical foundation.
Funding and regulatory groundwork in place
The exploration campaign is being executed on a solid financial footing. In June, the company closed a brokered financing of approximately CAD 15 million earmarked for exploration and analytical work at Rift.
Regulatory preparation has also advanced. Last Thursday, Apex submitted a new technical report under the NI 43-101 standard to the Canadian regulator SEDAR, formalising the geological understanding gathered to date.
The road to a maiden resource estimate
The current drilling programme encompasses 34 holes totalling roughly 22,000 metres, with much of the fieldwork already complete. Laboratory results for 15 additional holes remain outstanding, and those data will feed directly into the company's first official mineral resource estimate, targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
Management changes have accompanied the technical progress. Trevor Hall joined the board approximately one month ago, and a base prospectus filed around the same time secured the financial framework for future initiatives.
For investors tracking the story, the near-term catalysts are clear: the pending assay results from the remaining holes and, ultimately, the resource calculation due next year, which will provide the first definitive measure of the Rift project's true scale. Until then, the share price may continue to swing with each data release, but the underlying drill programme is steadily building the case for what could be a significant rare earth asset in the American Midwest.
