Argo Graphene Solutions is still hunting for the building that will house its proposed graphene refinery near Chicago. In a statement dated 22 October, the company said it was in the final stages of securing a suitable facility — but stopped short of confirming a completed purchase. The market's response was lukewarm: the stock shed 2.9% on Friday, closing at €0.6680, with no company announcement offering an explanation for the move.

Capacity Targets at the Planned Site

The initial production goal for the site is roughly 10 tonnes of graphene per quarter. Beyond that, Argo envisions a later expansion to approximately 90 tonnes per quarter. The facility is also intended to turn out graphene oxide dispersion, with an initial target capacity of 30 tonnes per quarter at a 20% concentration. All of these figures describe the refinery's intended output — not production already achieved.

Preliminary Lubricant Test Data

Alongside the site plans, Argo published preliminary results from trials of graphene in a specially formulated mineral oil. According to the company, the material remained dispersed in the oil over several weeks at the concentrations tested, which ranged from 0.05% to 0.50% by weight. The disclosure covered dispersion behaviour only; it offered no evidence of validated performance in commercial use.

Options Grant and Filings

The refinery update was not the only capital-related news in recent weeks. Roughly three weeks earlier, Argo granted directors and consultants options to acquire up to 1.2 million common shares. The strike price was set at C$1.25 per share, with the options exercisable through 9 October 2029. They vested immediately but carry a four-month holding period ending 10 February 2027 — an arrangement that applied to directors and consultants alike, with no staggered vesting.

Separately, the company has filed its interim financial statements and an interim management discussion and analysis covering its business development and financial position on SEDAR+.
