Bayer's Darolutamid Hits 95% Metastasis-Free Survival as China Clears Asundexian
Published on 10/29/2026 at 20:10 | Editorial boerse-global.deBayer packed three days with clinical and regulatory news, and investors responded. Shares in the German drugs-to-seeds group climbed 4.1% to €47.77, with the gain attributed by dpa-AFX to both a fresh prostate cancer readout and a Chinese approval for a stroke-prevention drug.
The prostate data landed on Saturday. In an interim analysis of the Phase III DASL-HiCaP trial, darolutamid — marketed as Nubeqa — produced a four-year metastasis-free survival rate of 95%, against 88% for placebo. The study enrolled patients at high risk of recurrence who also received androgen deprivation therapy and radiotherapy. On the combined endpoint of metastases or death, the drug cut risk by 58% versus placebo. Bayer stressed that the figures come from an interim look, not the final assessment of the trial.
Kidney and Stroke Franchises Advance
Two days earlier, on 22 October, the company had rolled out subgroup analyses from the Phase III FIND-CKD study, which covers chronic kidney disease patients without diabetes. Presented at ASN Kidney Week 2026, the data pointed to consistent effects for finerenone on proteinuria and on the loss of kidney function across the patient groups examined.

Then came Monday's regulatory green light. China's NMPA approved Asundexian under the brand name Sunharbo through an accelerated pathway, for adults who have suffered a non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack. The indication is reduction of stroke risk. Bayer described the compound as the first factor XIa inhibitor available in China for this use.
Agri Study Adds a Third Front
Away from the clinic, Bayer published research on 15 October examining global agricultural competitiveness. Its conclusion: the European Union and the United Kingdom risk falling further behind key farming markets in arable production growth.
The company's next scheduled disclosure comes on 3 November, when third-quarter 2026 results are due at 07:30 CET. Management has also pencilled in a media update at 10:00 and an analyst and investor call at 14:00 CET, giving the market two further opportunities that day to interrogate the numbers.
