Bayer Ships First Convintro Batch as China Approvals and Missouri Verdict Reshape the Story
Published on 11/07/2026 at 20:01 | Editorial boerse-global.deBayer's pipeline and its courtroom ledger both moved forward this week, with the German group delivering its first shipment of the pre-emergence herbicide Convintro to a US customer while securing a fresh Chinese approval for a lung cancer therapy and closing out a glyphosate case in its favour.
The Convintro consignment went to New Century FS in Iowa, according to company statements. The product is earmarked for American corn and soybean growers ahead of the 2027 planting season, meaning farmers will not have it in hand until well after the initial delivery.
China opens two fronts
On Wednesday Bayer disclosed that Sevabertinib has been cleared in China for first-line treatment of adults with HER2-mutated, advanced non-small cell lung cancer — a green light covering the start of therapy in a patient group defined by that mutation. The approval follows the October 26 authorisation of Asundexian, sold in China as Sunharbo, to cut stroke risk after a non-cardioembolic ischaemic stroke or high-risk TIA. Bayer describes it as the first factor XIa inhibitor approved in the country.
Chief executive Bill Anderson, speaking Tuesday, indicated a break-up is not currently on the table. The company is prioritising innovation and debt reduction instead, he said, according to media reports.

Third-quarter figures and a brighter outlook
Those comments came alongside results for the third quarter of 2026, which showed group revenue of EUR 10.053 billion — up 4.1% in nominal terms and 1.9% on a currency- and portfolio-adjusted basis. EBITDA before special items climbed 6.9% to EUR 1.615 billion, while adjusted earnings per share slipped to EUR 0.31. The bottom line was a group loss of EUR 672 million.
Guidance got a lift. Bayer raised its forecast for the pharma EBITDA margin to 25% to 27%, and guided to group EBITDA before special items of EUR 9.8 billion to EUR 10.3 billion on a currency-adjusted basis. The free cash flow outlook was also improved, now seen at minus EUR 1.5 billion to minus EUR 0.5 billion. Coverage attributed the stock's recent strength to the stronger pharma business and the upgraded projections.
Missouri jury backs Monsanto
In the glyphosate litigation, Monsanto — Bayer's subsidiary — won the Aretino case in a Missouri court on October 30, with a unanimous jury verdict. The claims involved alleged product defects, wilful deception and negligence. Company statements noted it was the first Roundup trial since the US Supreme Court's decision.
Bayer at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Jefferies analyst Michael Leuchten, meanwhile, flagged the pending court ruling on the broader Roundup settlement as a key legal catalyst. The brokerage lifted its Bayer price target to EUR 48.50 from EUR 46 while keeping a "Hold" rating. Shares dipped 0.7% on the day, which press reports linked to early profit-taking after a strong trading week.
Bayer is scheduled to publish its report for fiscal 2026 on February 24, 2027.
