Bechtle's Profit Growth Lags Revenue as Analysts Split on the Upside
Published on 11/07/2026 at 04:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deBechtle shares slipped 3.5% on Thursday, caught in a broad selloff of technology stocks as investors fretted over heavy spending on artificial intelligence and the prospect of tighter regulation. The drop came just a day after the IT services group unveiled preliminary third-quarter figures — and a second upward revision to its full-year profit guidance — that drew a mixed but largely constructive response from the analyst community.
At the heart of the debate is a widening gap between how fast Bechtle's business is expanding and how quickly its earnings are following. Preliminary numbers for the third quarter of 2026 show business volume climbing roughly 19% to about EUR 2.44 billion, while pre-tax profit advanced around 14% to roughly EUR 92 million. Both figures remain provisional and will serve as the benchmark when the company publishes its full quarterly statement, alongside a conference call, on 13 November.
A second upgrade, but only for the bottom line
The guidance lift applies narrowly to pre-tax earnings. Bechtle now expects profit before tax to grow more than 10% in 2026, up from an earlier range of 5% to 10% — the second time management has raised that target. Forecasts for revenue, at 5% to 10% growth, and business volume, at more than 10%, were left untouched.
Management pointed to continued positive momentum and a record order backlog to justify the more bullish profit outlook. That backlog is a genuine asset, but only insofar as it converts into earnings — the crux of the question now facing investors. A well-filled pipeline is one thing; the margin it ultimately delivers is another.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bechtle?
Berenberg nudges higher, Deutsche Bank sees more room
Analysts weighed in promptly. Berenberg lifted its price target to EUR 41 from EUR 40 while reaffirming its buy rating. Deutsche Bank Research also kept its buy call and a EUR 49 target; analyst Lars Vom-Cleff argued that the preliminary figures and the fresh guidance increase leave scope for market expectations on pre-tax profit to rise. MPCM likewise reiterated a buy rating, with a EUR 47 target.
Those recommendations underpin the optimistic reading — provided Bechtle delivers on the earnings expectations beneath them. The November update will therefore double as a test of how durable that optimism really is after the guidance hike.
A UK acquisition adds AI muscle
Separately, Bechtle announced on Wednesday the acquisition of Britain's Bespoke XYZ Limited and its subsidiary Savvy. According to the company, the deal bolsters Bechtle UK's capabilities in artificial intelligence, data analytics and automation, adding 52 employees. Bespoke generated revenue of around GBP 3.5 million in its 2025/26 financial year. The purchase price and terms were not disclosed.
Bechtle at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What the November numbers must prove
The central issue for shareholders is whether profit growth can keep pace with an expanding business. If the gap between volume and earnings persists or widens, the case for the expansion would lose some of its force, and investors would need to focus more sharply on whether the additional business is contributing enough to the bottom line. Should earnings growth continue to trail, confidence would have to rest more heavily on the successful execution of the order backlog.
A convincing set of final figures — confirming the preliminary data and paired with management commentary that inspires confidence in the earnings trajectory — would reinforce the positive operational story. The connection between orders, growth and profitability is what matters most from here. If that chain holds, the raised profit target gains a firmer foundation; if earnings momentum fades, the quality of the growth moves to center stage.
