Bloom Energy Rides AI Power Demand as Barclays Lifts Target, CEO Rebuts Project Delays
Published on 10/02/2026 at 17:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deBloom Energy shares advanced 4.9% to EUR 259.00, lifted by a broad recovery on Wall Street after a fresh jobs report eased anxiety in the bond market. Continued appetite for artificial intelligence-related equities added further fuel, arriving at an opportune moment for a company whose decentralized power-generation model sits squarely in the path of the data-center boom.
Barclays Raises Target on Fremont Acquisition
The rally drew additional support from a bullish analyst note. Barclays lifted its price target on Bloom Energy to $308 from $276 while keeping an Equal Weight rating, with analyst Christine Cho pointing to the company's newly acquired manufacturing facility in Fremont. Cho also flagged a regulatory filing by a utility that could open the door to a fresh market segment for the fuel-cell maker. Expanded capacity at Fremont is expected to let the company take on additional orders and shore up supply chains for upcoming projects.
The revision landed just days after Jefferies raised its own target to $264 from $229, maintaining a Hold rating. Jefferies cited solid growth prospects for on-site power generation, but also cautioned about headwinds: permitting delays and a heavy concentration on a handful of large projects remain operational risks that investors should weigh.
Sridhar Pushes Back on Jupiter Concerns
Those concerns have centered on Project Jupiter, a planned artificial intelligence campus in New Mexico carrying a total volume of $165 billion. The site is slated to come online in 2028 and could draw as much as 2.45 gigawatts of Bloom capacity. Oracle invoked a force majeure clause for the project, but according to a Bloomberg report the software giant has no intention of walking away — payment obligations would simply be deferred during construction delays.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bloom Energy?
CEO KR Sridhar addressed the nervousness head-on in an interview with Bloomberg TV, reaffirming the company's official guidance for both this year and next. He described Bloom's fuel-cell units as flexibly interchangeable, noting that modules already shipped could be redirected to other sites should individual projects slip. Manufacturing cadence, he said, will continue to track actual customer demand. According to the company, the payment deferral does not diminish long-term utilization.
Grid Bottlenecks Underpin On-Site Power Case
Underneath the project-specific noise, providers of alternative power solutions continue to benefit from the surging energy needs of modern data centers. Developers are encountering lengthy wait times and tougher terms from regional grid operators, making self-generation at the site level increasingly attractive. Swings in US Treasury yields and shifting analyst views made for a visibly volatile trading week across the sector.
Bloom Energy also continues to build its public profile. On Monday the company announced a multi-year partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers, becoming the NBA team's official jersey partner.
