BYD moved roughly 490,000 new-energy vehicles in October, with about 170,000 of those going to export markets — a 102.8% jump in overseas shipments compared with the same month a year earlier, according to media reports. The figures, released on 2 November, were unaudited.

Total October sales rose 11%, a slower pace than September's 17% gain. For the January-to-October stretch, the automaker reported around 3.6 million vehicles sold, down 2.16% from the prior-year period. Reuters, covering the October numbers, pointed to sluggish demand in BYD's home market of China alongside fierce price competition.

Piper Sandler Lowers Its Sights

Piper Sandler cut its price target on BYD from HK$95 to HK$74 on Tuesday, media reports said, while keeping its "Neutral" rating on the stock.

The brokerage's move came in the same week BYD reported third-quarter 2026 results, published about two weeks earlier, showing a net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 10.02 billion. That marked a 28.08% increase over the prior-year quarter, yet Reuters noted the quarterly profit still fell short of broker expectations. Those quarterly figures were also unaudited.

Seal 07 Second Generation Lands in China

On Thursday, BYD launched the second generation of its Seal 07 sedan in China, offering it with both a battery-electric powertrain and a plug-in hybrid setup. The pure-electric version is rated at 775 kilometers of range under China's CLTC testing standard and features BYD's Flash Charging technology. Prices under a trade-in promotion start at RMB 135,900, with media reports putting the promotional range at RMB 135,900 to RMB 168,900 — figures that apply specifically to that exchange offer rather than to all purchase options for the model.

Automaker Pushes Back on Rumors, Warns of Scams

BYD on Wednesday denied online claims that production of its God's Eye C driver-assistance system had been halted. The company also rejected talk of a change in its intelligent-driving solutions and affirmed its commitment to fully in-house development.

Two days later, BYD cautioned Chinese vehicle owners about fraudulent recall notices circulating in its name. According to media reports, scammers are trying to get owners to click links or hand over sensitive bank details. BYD stressed that official recalls are free of charge and never require such information, and that recall notices are communicated through authorized dealers. Customers were advised to verify any recall information through the company's official channels.
