Circus SE Shareholders Back the Strategy, but the Tape Tells a Different Story

Circus SE closed Friday at EUR 1.84, down 2.3% on the day and 18% over the past week — a striking disconnect from the near-unanimous endorsement its owners handed management just weeks earlier. At the virtual annual general meeting held in late August, all eleven agenda items passed with approval rates between 97.78% and 99.37%, a show of support that stands in sharp contrast to the stock's recent performance. Over the past month, however, the shares have clawed back roughly 10%.
The owner base, in other words, has lined up behind the strategy even after a brutal guidance cut that had already hammered the equity.
Bundeswehr Field Tests Pave the Way for Mandatory Pods
Among the operational developments competing for investor attention is the Circus Pods program. Following field trials with the German armed forces, the standardized ingredient and supply-chain infrastructure is set to become mandatory across the entire system fleet during the second half of the year. The product is already deployed in seven European countries with more than 30 ingredients on its roster. Making it compulsory fleet-wide would lift value creation per installed unit and lend greater predictability to recurring revenue streams.
Cost discipline is improving in parallel. Production costs for the CA-1 have fallen more than 25% year over year, and series production of the acquired CA-A technology is slated to begin before the end of 2026. Management also reiterated its target of having more than 50 autonomous AI robotic systems deployed across nine countries by year-end.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Circus?
The Guidance Cut That Still Casts a Shadow
Those milestones land against the backdrop of a severe downward revision issued roughly three weeks ago. Circus slashed its 2026 revenue forecast from an original EUR 44–55 million to just EUR 5.2 million, following EUR 1.6 million in 2025. The company blamed onboarding, integration, and ongoing service costs per system for failing to scale as planned, pushing system deliveries into 2027. The EBITDA outlook was simultaneously widened to a loss of around EUR 17 million, compared with a previously targeted shortfall of EUR 6–8 million.
Since that announcement, the stock has shed 17.9%. The commercial rollout of the Circus Pods, announced about a week ago, did nothing to halt the slide — the shares are down 18.4% since that news broke.
Technicals Paint a Picture of Persistent Nervousness
The relative strength index sits at 37.8, a reading that points to a somewhat oversold condition without offering any signal of stabilization. An annualized 30-day volatility of 179% underscores just how jittery trading in the name remains. Market capitalization now stands at just under EUR 50 million — a fraction of what analysts once ascribed to the company before the forecast reduction.
The pattern is hard to miss: operational wins, whether the CA-1 cost reductions, the planned CA-A production start, or the broad shareholder backing, tend to fizzle out on the trading floor. Investors appear to treat the sharply lowered guidance as the more relevant yardstick. Deliveries originally planned for the second half of the year have largely been pushed to 2027, with the company citing the need to make its supply chain, system integration, and maintenance operations more economical and scalable.
What Would Change the Narrative
For shareholders, the central question is whether operational progress — cheaper CA-1 production, the pending CA-A ramp — will actually translate into revenue and margin in upcoming quarterly reports. Until that shows up in the numbers, the market seems unlikely to abandon its stuttering-scaling narrative. The lopsided AGM vote, for now, remains an internal signal that finds little echo beyond the company's own walls.
