Deutsche Telekom Rolls Out AI Voice Tools for Business Clients While Extending Global eSIM Reach

Deutsche Telekom is broadening its commercial footprint on two fronts this autumn, pairing a set of AI-driven features for corporate subscribers with a travel-focused eSIM that reaches well beyond its own customer base. The Bonn-based carrier confirmed that its Business Mobil and Business Mobil Pro plans will gain the Voice AI Notes Mobile function starting October 5, with a follow-up application called Voice AI Actions — capable of deriving downstream tasks from spoken commands — slated for 2027.
The push into automated speech processing sits alongside a wider investment drive outlined by CEO Tim Höttges, who has flagged additional spending on the technological foundation for AI workloads and an expansion of the Industrial AI Cloud. Rounding out the software stack, the group folded the development service Codesphere into the T-Cloud ecosystem.
T-Travel Opens the Door to Rival Customers
Launched on Monday, the international travel eSIM branded T-Travel bundles digital data packages covering more than 200 destinations worldwide. Notably, it is available to users regardless of which operator they currently subscribe to — a move that extends Telekom's mobile services past its traditional contract base and into the territory of competitors whose customers need data abroad.
Network performance data from major events underscores just how much demand that infrastructure is absorbing. During the Wacken Open Air music festival, roughly 292,000 gigabytes coursed through the carrier's on-site mobile stations. At the opening weekend of the Munich Oktoberfest, 57.7 TByte moved across the network — an 18 percent jump from the same period a year earlier. To handle comparable loads at future large gatherings, the company bolstered capacity on the Munich festival grounds ahead of this year's event.

Beyond terrestrial coverage, the Deutsche Telekom IoT unit widened its global connectivity portfolio through a roaming agreement with satellite operator Iridium, integrating that company's low-earth-orbit satellite constellation into Telekom's IoT offering. Independent analysis firm Ookla, meanwhile, recognized Telekom's mobile network as Europe's most reliable for performance consistency in the first half of 2026.
Fiber, Emissions Tracking and a Hate-Speech Campaign
Progress on the ground-level build-out continues as well. Telekom reported that state-subsidized fiber expansion across the municipalities of Murrhardt, Althütte, Großerlach and Sulzbach an der Murr is nearly complete. The group also made available its Product Emissions Calculator, a digital tool for determining CO? footprints. On the social side, Monday saw the continuation of the "Gemeinsam #GegenHassImNetz" initiative with a campaign titled "Was sich liebt…".
Capital-market activity remains a parallel storyline. During the trading week of September 7 through 11, Telekom repurchased 2,987,400 of its own shares under the regular buyback program, lifting the cumulative total acquired through the scheme to 11,059,965. Back on August 6, the company had raised the 2026 buyback authorization by as much as EUR 3 billion; combined with the existing program, repurchases could reach up to EUR 5 billion by year-end.
Shares closed Wednesday at EUR 26.91, down 0.6 percent on the day, leaving the stock roughly 22 percent below its 52-week high of EUR 34.35.
