DroneShield's Order Book Fattened by Another $11 Million as Leadership Shuffle Widens
Published on 09/12/2026 at 21:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deDroneShield has nudged its secured revenue for the 2026 fiscal year higher once again, telling the market that committed revenue stood at $251 million as of September 8 — up from $240 million at the end of August. The Australian counter-drone specialist remains comfortably inside its own full-year guidance range of $250 million to $270 million. A further $46 million in firmly contracted sales has already been booked for periods from 2027 onward, offering investors a partial read on the pipeline beyond the current year.
The steady upward revision of the backlog over just a few weeks suggests new business is holding up despite a bruising stretch for the share register. For shareholders who have spent recent weeks watching the screen rather than the order book, it amounts to an operational counterweight.
RfRecon Lands Its First Buyer
Alongside the revenue update, DroneShield confirmed the maiden order for RfRecon, a newly launched AI-assisted radio reconnaissance device. The customer is an existing military end-user in Western Europe, with hardware delivery slated before the end of 2026. The deal matters on two fronts: it pushes the company's portfolio beyond classic drone detection and countermeasures into broader electronic intelligence, and it demonstrates that established defence clients are willing to add further product lines. For a business keen to plant its technology outside its Australian home market, a first European order of this kind is a signal of international reach.
Berlin's Anti-Sabotage Push Adds a Tailwind
Europe's growing weight as a sales region dovetails with political developments in Germany. According to Reuters, the country's interior ministry has unveiled a sweeping anti-sabotage package that would expand the police's mobile counter-drone capabilities and allow operators of critical infrastructure to actively defend against drones. Such regulatory groundwork could generate additional demand for counter-drone suppliers over the medium term, though no direct link between the German plans and the Western European RfRecon contract has been documented.

Two Leadership Exits in Quick Succession
The commercial news arrived alongside a broader reshuffle of the top table. Rebecca Lowde, whose appointment was announced last Thursday, takes over as finance chief on November 2. In a related move, Carla Balanco is stepping down as joint company secretary after more than eight years with the company. Within a matter of weeks, a meaningful slice of DroneShield's leadership structure is therefore changing hands — a timing overlap with the run of positive business announcements that some observers may read as a deliberate bundling of news.
The Tape Still Isn't Playing Along
None of it has yet lifted the stock. The shares closed Friday at EUR 1.04, down 0.2% on the day. Over the past month they have shed 18%, and year-to-date the decline reaches 42%. The gap to the 50-day moving average of EUR 1.23 is roughly 15% to the downside, pointing to a persistently negative short-term trend, while the distance from the 200-day line is 42%. Measured against the 52-week high set in October, the stock sits 72% lower, with an RSI of 38.3 — a reading that captures just how much scepticism the market is pricing in.
Part of that pressure has a mechanical source: DroneShield has ranked among the most heavily shorted names on the Australian market, which has added to selling pressure. The half-year figures published about a month ago — strong revenue growth paired with a collapse in profit — did the rest, with the stock losing around 27% since that report.
Management has now delivered a confirmed guidance range, a rising committed revenue figure and a first order for a new product line. Whether that operational strength is enough to arrest the slide is the question investors are left to weigh.
