Eutelsat has moved to shore up its core television distribution franchise across the Middle East and North Africa, extending long-standing relationships with two national broadcasters. The French satellite operator confirmed fresh multi-year agreements with Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) and Télédiffusion d'Algérie (TDA), both covering capacity and uplink services on EUTELSAT 7 West A.

Investors welcomed the news, sending the shares up as much as 8.4% to EUR 1.93 during the session. The stock now trades roughly 10% above its 50-day moving average of EUR 1.75, a modest stabilization after losses in earlier months.

A Key Orbital Slot Keeps Its Anchor Tenants

The 7/8° West position is the backbone of direct-to-home satellite reception in the MENA region. Around 900 channels beam from the slot, reaching an estimated 70 million households according to company figures. QMC, Qatar's national public broadcaster, secures uninterrupted linear distribution of its programming through the renewed deal.

Saoud Al Maadeed, deputy director of Qatar Television at QMC, said the arrangement guarantees viewers continued access to the group's content. Hamad Elbordini, Eutelsat's MENA sales chief, framed the renewal as evidence of sustained confidence in the company's transmission infrastructure. Neither side disclosed financial terms or the precise duration of the contract.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Eutelsat?

The Qatari renewal builds on a technical milestone from May 2026, when QMC launched QBC Business Channel — the first Qatari financial and business network broadcast in 4K/Ultra-High-Definition via the Eutelsat node. The shift of broadcasters toward high-resolution formats generates incremental bandwidth demand at the slot, giving Eutelsat a cushion for its traditional TV transmission business.

Algeria Renewal Is Continuity, Not Growth

The TDA agreement keeps Algerian television channels available to viewers across the region on the same satellite. Financial conditions and the exact contract term were not made public. For investors, the distinction between defending existing business and adding new revenue matters: the Algerian deal continues prior distribution without any capacity expansion or new service, so no additional growth impulse can be inferred from it.

A third piece of TV-distribution news cut a more mixed figure. BIS TĂ©lĂ©visions will remain on Eutelsat's Hot Bird platform, contrary to earlier reports, but after negotiations the offering will continue in reduced form. Pricing is expected to stay unchanged, according to Avmat. Existing subscriptions expire on 30 November and must be renewed, while simulcasting on the current transponders runs until 18 January 2027. The customer relationship survives, albeit with a narrower scope — not an unchanged booking of all previous capacity.

Deutsche Bank Cuts Its Price Target

Alongside the contract flow, Deutsche Bank lowered its price target on Eutelsat from EUR 2.40 to EUR 2.10 while keeping a "Hold" rating. The stock nevertheless gained 7.1% on the day.

Taken together, the announcements offer concrete proof that existing customer relationships are being carried forward. They fall short of justifying a re-rating on additional revenue: the Algerian contract lacks financial details, and BIS is scaling back its package. The operative takeaway is secured TV distribution — not a demonstrated expansion of the business.
