Evotec's Science Engine Keeps Running as Investors Stay on the Sidelines

Evotec's laboratory momentum and its stock market standing are pulling in opposite directions. While the Hamburg-based drug discovery group advances antibody programs and forges fresh research alliances, its equity continues to languish near the bottom of its yearly range — a disconnect that management is now trying to address head-on.
JST-018 Enters the Clinic
The clearest operational win came from subsidiary Just – Evotec Biologics, which launched a Phase I clinical trial for JST-018 on September 9. The candidate is an antibody cocktail designed to combat Orthopoxvirus infections, and its progression into human testing serves as validation of the subsidiary's monoclonal antibody technology platform. The program operates under the Accelerated Antibodies Program of the U.S. Department of War, giving the effort an institutional backer as it moves through early-stage development.
Widening the Research Net
Evotec isn't relying on a single asset. The company has been assembling partnerships across early-stage research, including a collaboration with Plectonic Biotech focused on T-cell-activating approaches for solid tumors. Under that arrangement, Evotec contributes its BiTco drug discovery platform while Plectonic brings its proprietary LOGIBODY technology to the table.
The alliance-building continued into August, when Evotec announced a partnership with Odyssey Therapeutics targeting autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with artificial intelligence embedded in the work. Taken together, these deals are meant to deepen the pipeline and open additional revenue channels over the medium term.

A Market That Isn't Convinced Yet
None of that has translated into share price relief. The stock closed at EUR 2.90 in the prior session, down 47 percent since the start of the year, and it sits just above its 52-week low of EUR 2.77. In more recent trading the shares changed hands at EUR 2.88, a decline of 1.2 percent — leaving a gap of roughly 4.0 percent above that yearly floor.
The picture briefly brightened late last week. Following remarks from CFO Claire Hinshelwood at the Morgan Stanley Global Healthcare Conference, the stock temporarily climbed to the top of the SDax. Hinshelwood used the platform to highlight improved business indicators and point to future revenue potential, arguing that Evotec's biggest problem right now is how the market perceives the company — not the quality of its science.
Management also used the conference to outline a sharper positioning of the business model, citing stronger customer confidence and the signing of longer-term contracts. No full financial figures were released at the event.
The Numbers Behind the Skepticism
The caution on the part of investors has a basis in the company's own guidance. Roughly three weeks ago, Evotec reaffirmed its downgraded forecast for full-year 2026. After posting revenue of EUR 300.1 million in the first half, the company expects full-year sales of between EUR 570 million and EUR 610 million, alongside an adjusted EBITDA of minus EUR 70 million to minus EUR 105 million.

The capital structure has shifted as well. Following the issuance of subscription shares effective September 9, the total number of voting rights stands at 177,909,968. That figure was disclosed under Paragraph 41 of the German Securities Trading Act.
What the Market Is Watching For
For shareholders, the priority is straightforward: reliable execution of the initiatives management has laid out. The conference appearances signal that the board is stepping up its communication efforts, working to narrow the gap between what happens in the lab and how the company is valued on the exchange. Whether that message lands will depend less on the next presentation and more on whether the announced programs and contracts start showing up in the financials.
