Heidelberg Druck Maps Out 18-Month manroland Integration as Pharma Packaging Alliance Takes Shape

Heidelberg Druckmaschinen is pressing ahead with the integration of manroland sheetfed's lifecycle and service operations, a project the press manufacturer confirmed on 21 September is running to schedule. The bulk of the key implementation steps are expected to wrap up within the next 18 months, a timeline that underpins Heidelberg's broader ambition to build a steadier stream of recurring service revenue beyond the cyclical new-machine business.
That push toward higher-margin aftermarket work sits alongside a widening set of partnerships in packaging. On 30 September the company struck a cooperation agreement with the pfenning group to develop integrated solutions for pharmaceutical packaging production. The two partners intend to link manufacturing, packaging and logistics into a single end-to-end process — a setup designed to cut down on operational interfaces and tighten the sequencing of production steps for customers.
Istanbul printer adopts Prinect, Klampfer orders Jetfire 50
Automation is advancing on the factory floor as well. Sade Ofset Packaging & Label, a print operation based in Istanbul, has adopted the Prinect Production software as the central platform for digitally controlling its packaging and label output. The system ties prepress, printing and production planning into one shared workflow. No specific order value was disclosed for the decision. Sade Ofset also overhauled its equipment, swapping out two older presses for a Speedmaster CX 104.
Heidelberg is pitching its Prinect Touch-Free workflow as a way to automatically analyse print jobs and route them to the most economically suitable machine. For shorter runs, the print service provider Klampfer Druck ordered a Jetfire 50 digital printing system.

Gallus reaffirms India commitment, reshuffles leadership
The Gallus Group subsidiary, meanwhile, is concentrating on specialised markets and internal adjustments. Roughly two weeks ago Gallus joined Heidelberg in reaffirming its commitment to India's label and packaging sector at LOUPE India. A little over a week ago, Gallus also reorganised its own leadership.
Trade fair calendar stretches into October
Heidelberg is preparing its next appearance on the international stage, with a busy slate of industry events on the calendar. The company's schedule lists the PackPrintPlas fair in Manila from 8 to 10 October 2026, followed by the All-in-Print China trade show in Shanghai from 12 to 16 October 2026. The Shanghai event serves as a showcase for the group's technical solutions in industrial printing.
Shares hold at 1.42 euros, down 30% year-to-date
Trading in the stock has been subdued of late. Heidelberg shares closed at 1.42 euros on Wednesday, leaving the paper down 30% since the start of the year and market capitalisation at 434.57 million euros. With the October industry engagements behind it, investor attention will shift to the fundamental business picture.
Heidelberg is due to publish its interim report for the second quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year on 12 November 2026. Those figures will show how demand in the packaging segment is feeding through to operating profit. Taken together, the initiatives reflect an effort to make the business less dependent on cyclical capital spending in mechanical engineering, with investors watching closely for how earnings from software and services develop.
