Heidelberg Materials Draws a Wall of Raised Targets — With One Voice of Caution
Published on 11/07/2026 at 03:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deAnalysts spent the back half of the week repricing Heidelberg Materials, and the direction was overwhelmingly upward. BNP Paribas lifted its target to EUR 205 from EUR 195, keeping an "Outperform" rating, according to media reports. That move followed a Thursday wave of revisions from rival houses.
Goldman Sachs raised its own target to EUR 220 from EUR 210 while reaffirming its buy call. Analyst Ben Rada Martin also marked his earnings estimates up by as much as 6% through 2028. Four more research houses pushed their targets higher the same day, with new marks spanning EUR 217 to EUR 242 — each retaining a positive rating.
The chorus wasn't unanimous. One further analyst trimmed a target to EUR 210 from EUR 215, though the buy recommendation stayed in place.
The Numbers Behind the Revisions
Third-quarter 2026 results gave the analysts their raw material. Revenue climbed 10% to EUR 6,413 million, while result from current operations — RCO — advanced 9% to EUR 1,281 million. Management stood by its full-year guidance of EUR 3.40 billion to EUR 3.65 billion in RCO and unveiled an extra EUR 300 million in savings to be delivered by the end of 2028. Reuters attributed the post-release share price move to the earnings increase and the cost cuts.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberg Materials?
The stock has already added 16% over the week, a run that raises the bar for what comes next. Further upside will increasingly have to come from operating progress rather than multiple expansion. For anyone weighing an entry or holding on, the wager is that Heidelberg Materials can keep converting its recent business gains into profit.
Growth Is Only Half the Story
The gap between the two growth rates is the number to watch. Revenue is expanding faster than operating result, and that relationship matters: higher sales create value chiefly when earnings keep pace or better. If profit growth lags revenue over the long haul, the optimistic analyst case would rest more heavily on future improvements than on current momentum. The decisive metric, then, is operating earnings dynamics relative to top-line growth — and the next set of results will be read through exactly that lens.
Completed acquisitions give the bull case something concrete to stand on. Heidelberg Materials has broadened its activities into quarries, concrete plants and asphalt operations, and because those transactions have closed, that slice of the expansion now depends on execution inside the company rather than on deal completion. A 70% stake in Cementos Inka was wrapped up on October 1. Both moves offer footholds for further growth — provided the acquired businesses are developed profitably.
A Nordic Bet Still in the Pipeline
One expansion step remains ahead of the company: a purchase agreement covering NCC's activities in Sweden and Norway, spanning 106 aggregates sites and 44 asphalt plants. Until that deal closes, its contribution to the valuation is a question mark rather than a given.
Here lies the serious counterargument. Should the broader footprint lift revenue while operating profit continues to trail, the gap between business expansion and earnings progress would harden — and the bullish analyst voices would lose persuasive force. After the recent share price advance, that risk carries more weight in the entry decision. Bolt-on purchases can widen the growth base; for the equity they help most when earnings development keeps up. Investors are left weighing strategic build-out against its economic payoff.
Heidelberg Materials at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What Would Prove the Optimists Right
As long as Heidelberg Materials keeps enlarging its earnings base and squeezes profit from the businesses it has absorbed, the higher targets remain operationally defensible. A scenario in which revenue accelerates without a matching earnings step would instead tilt the scales toward the cautious view. Completion of the NCC acquisition stands out as a possible next catalyst, after which its economic contribution would move to the foreground.
Meanwhile, a mandatory disclosure flagged a board-level purchase: Hakan Gurdal bought 245 shares on Thursday at EUR 176.35 apiece. The company's next scheduled date is the release of full-year 2026 results on 25.02.2027.
