Heidelberg Materials is heading into its next earnings checkpoint with a pair of analyst revisions behind it and a Scandinavian acquisition taking shape. The building-materials group will release its third-quarter 2026 trading update on November 4, followed by an analyst conference call to walk through operating performance — a key reference point for the DAX-listed company as it navigates a construction sector still weighed down by macro headwinds.

Two Houses, Two Slightly Different Targets

Ahead of that interim report, research desks have been recalibrating their numbers. Jon Bell of Deutsche Bank Research, writing on October 7, penciled in organic growth of roughly 2% in Europe and about 5% in North America for the third quarter. The bank kept its "Buy" rating but trimmed its price target to EUR 210 from EUR 220.

RBC Capital Markets followed on October 9. Anthony Codling pointed to cost inflation, soft demand and weather-related drag as pressures on the wider industry, according to dpa-AFX. Even so, RBC upgraded the stock to "Outperform" from "Sector Perform" while nudging its price target down to EUR 211 from EUR 217. The two calls sketch a split picture: North America looks set to hold up reasonably well, while recovery across Europe's core markets remains more subdued.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberg Materials?

NCC Deal Reshapes the Nordic Map

Running alongside those fundamental questions is a portfolio move aimed at deepening Heidelberg Materials' footprint in northern Europe. Just over a week ago, subsidiary Heidelberg Materials Nordics agreed binding terms to acquire the Swedish and Norwegian aggregates and asphalt operations of NCC AB. The adjusted enterprise value for that package comes to around SEK 5.5 billion, with completion still contingent on regulatory approval.

The transaction sits inside a broader carve-up of NCC's industrial division, which is being sold at an enterprise value of SEK 8.2 billion. The remaining Finnish and Danish assets go to Irish building-materials producer CRH. For Heidelberg Materials, the deal amounts to a targeted thickening of its raw-materials and asphalt capacity across Scandinavia.

Share Price Reflects a Tough Year

Market pricing tells its own story about sector stress. The stock closed Tuesday at EUR 142.25 and has shed 36% since the start of the year, leaving it 21% below its 200-day moving average of EUR 180.42. That gap captures the persistent skepticism among market participants about construction-cycle momentum.

Both brokerages, despite their lowered targets, still see meaningful upside from current valuation levels. Whether that view holds will hinge on the November 4 interim report — and on whether the margin and volume stability analysts anticipate has actually materialized. Until then, confirmation of the company's strategic moves remains the central yardstick for investors.
