Heidelberg Materials Offers 300 Million Euro of Future Relief While Its Third Quarter Shows Revenue Outrunning Profit
Published on 11/07/2026 at 17:32 | Editorial boerse-global.deHeidelberg Materials has handed investors a fresh yardstick to judge it by, promising an extra 300 million euros of savings by the end of 2028. Whether that pledge turns into a sturdier earnings base is now the question hanging over a stock that has just drawn a cluster of higher price targets — and one downgrade.
The savings announcement, made on Wednesday, lands alongside third-quarter 2026 figures that show the group growing at the top line faster than at the operating line. Revenue climbed 10% to 6.41 billion euros in the reporting quarter, while result from current operations (RCO) advanced 9% to 1.28 billion euros. Both figures were released in the company's trading update.
That gap between the two growth rates is the detail worth watching. Heidelberg Materials lifted profit, but did not convert all of its revenue increase into an equally strong gain in earnings. For the bulls, the new cost programme is precisely what could close that distance if the operating business loses momentum. For the sceptics, it is a promise whose full delivery stretches well into the future — investors today are pricing relief that will only materialise over several years.
A split verdict from the research desks
Thursday brought a wave of target revisions, and they did not all point the same way. Goldman Sachs raised its price target to 220 euros from 210 euros and kept its buy rating, with analyst Ben Rada Martin lifting his earnings estimates through 2028 by as much as 6%. RBC Capital Markets moved its target to 217 euros from 211 euros, maintaining an "Outperform" rating; analyst Anthony Codling wrote that the third quarter confirmed his view of firmer fundamentals.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberg Materials?
Against those two stood a third house that trimmed its target to 210 euros from 215 euros while keeping its buy recommendation. The reason given was forecasts adjusted to the midpoints of the annual guidance ranges — a technical recalibration rather than a change of heart on the stock.
The confirmed RCO guidance for 2026 sits at 3.40 to 3.65 billion euros, and that range is the concrete benchmark for the current financial year. The real risk, as the more cautious reading has it, is that investors give the long-dated savings more weight than the actual earnings trajectory. Should revenue keep outgrowing operating profit, the case for an improving earnings conversion would weaken, and the extra savings would first have to help contain that gap.
A board member buys in
Alongside the analyst activity, a member of the management board put money to work. Hakan Gurdal acquired 245 shares on Thursday for a total of 43,205.75 euros, according to the published notification of reportable securities transactions. The transaction date was also given as Thursday.
Heidelberg Materials at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What would settle the debate is evidence that growth and cost discipline can run together. Near term, that means hitting the confirmed annual guidance; further out, it means making visible progress on the additional savings programme, whose stated horizon runs to the end of 2028. The short-term verdict should rest on actual earnings, the longer-term one on execution of the savings target — and the two perspectives only become convincing in combination if Heidelberg Materials delivers operating progress while putting flesh on the announced relief.
The next confirmed date for business figures is 25 February 2027, when the group intends to present its results for the 2026 financial year under its financial calendar.
