Hensoldt's €2.8 Billion Guidance Lands Soft as Defence Sector Wobbles
Published on 11/08/2026 at 09:10 | Editorial boerse-global.deHensoldt closed Friday at €77.78, down 3.8%, after the defence electronics group's upgraded full-year revenue target fell short of what the market had been modelling. The company now expects roughly €2.8 billion in sales for the year, a figure that trailed the analyst consensus of more than €2.9 billion and took the shine off an otherwise strong nine-month report.
The stock's slide played out against a broader retreat in German equities, with a global selloff in AI and semiconductor names weighing on sentiment, according to dpa-AFX. Hensoldt was caught in that downdraft. The shares had already come under pressure on Thursday, surrendering earlier gains as Rheinmetall's profit warning rippled across the sector — the second time in three months the larger peer had cut its 2026 revenue outlook.
Order Book Swells, Top Line Follows
The operating picture was considerably brighter than the share price suggested. Order intake for the first nine months of 2026 reached €3.56 billion, a jump of 76.7% on the prior-year period, while the order backlog stood at €10.4 billion. Revenue for the same stretch came in at €1.86 billion, up 21.3%, and adjusted EBITDA climbed 33.0% to €281 million.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Hensoldt?
Alongside the revenue guidance, Hensoldt firmed up its expected adjusted EBITDA margin for the full year at around 19.0%.
Brokers Hold Their Ground
Sell-side coverage was largely unmoved by the guidance miss. Deutsche Bank restated its Buy rating on Friday, keeping a €105 price target unchanged, as reported by dpa-AFX. Jefferies had already reaffirmed its own Buy recommendation on Thursday with a €98 target, arguing that both revenue and adjusted EBIT had beaten consensus estimates. JPMorgan, by contrast, stayed on Neutral with a €100 target, and a separate Thursday note reiterated a neutral stance at €100.0.
London Date Looms
Attention now shifts to Hensoldt's capital markets day in London on 10 November, the next confirmed item on the company's calendar and the setting where management will be expected to defend its margin ambitions and explain how the record order book converts into revenue.
