Infineon Adds Qualcomm to Automotive Push as Jefferies Sees 96 Euros
Published on 11/02/2026 at 18:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deInfineon shares advanced 2.4% on Monday, though the chipmaker's gain came without any confirmed link to a single corporate announcement. The move unfolded against a mixed sector backdrop: media reports said Friday brought worries over the cost of AI build-outs and a weak Intel outlook that weighed on European semiconductor names.
Snapdragon Ride Tie-Up
Infineon has agreed a technology cooperation with Qualcomm Technologies. Under the arrangement, Infineon's security, connectivity and memory components are to complement the Snapdragon Ride platform for software-defined vehicles. The company said it will help develop central vehicle computers for Snapdragon Ride reference platforms, with automated driving and digital cockpits among the intended applications — spanning several areas of automotive electronics.
A separate automotive launch landed on 27 October, when Infineon brought its LinearFET MOSFET technology for electronic power distribution systems to market. The device integrates current sharing, inrush current limiting and short-circuit robustness, and is aimed at electric vehicles among other uses.
Power Components for AI Data Centres
Infineon and Enphase Energy announced on 26 October that they would pair up on power semiconductors. Infineon is to supply Enphase with monolithic bidirectional GaN switches rated at 900 volts for solid-state transformer power modules, with AI data centres among the planned applications.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?
Analysts are watching the data-centre angle closely. Jefferies restated its buy rating on Infineon on Friday with a price target of 96 euros. According to media reports, analyst Janardan Menon read positive signals into comments from KLA, SK Hynix and ASM on cloud and data-centre investment, and also flagged higher growth expectations at Monolithic Power as a further tailwind for Infineon.
Villach Bet and a Start-Up Lab
Roughly a week ago the company unveiled plans to invest around EUR 1.1 billion at its Villach site through 2034, channelling the money into existing cleanroom space. Infineon says the site will host the world's first high-volume production of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers, with output due to begin by the end of 2027. Support under the EU Chips Act amounts to EUR 319 million.
Alongside its manufacturing build-out, Infineon launched the Physical AI Growth Lab about two weeks ago with UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft and NVIDIA. The accelerator is aimed at European start-ups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI.
