Infineon Analysts Split on 2027 Margins as Stock Grinds Toward November 10 Results
Published on 10/19/2026 at 20:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deTwo research houses have taken the measure of Infineon Technologies this week, and both like the stock — though for different reasons and with notably different levels of enthusiasm about what lies beyond the current fiscal year.
TD Cowen reaffirmed its "Buy" rating on the Munich chipmaker while trimming its price target to EUR 60 from EUR 72, a recalibration that reflects the valuation squeeze running through the broader technology sector. Rate debates and growth worries have compressed industry multiples of late, yet the broker's decision to keep its buy call intact points to continued confidence in Infineon's long-term standing.
MWB Research, meanwhile, is looking past the upcoming fourth-quarter release altogether. For the analysts there, the decisive variable is the guidance for fiscal 2027. They see room for the company to lift its AI revenue target for that year to roughly EUR 3.0 billion, judging further expansion in artificial intelligence to be within reach.
Margin Call: 24% Versus the Street's 25.3%
Where MWB parts company with the consensus is on profitability. The house models a segment result margin of 24% for fiscal 2027, below the market's 25.3% expectation. Headwinds cited include ramp-up costs at the Dresden fab, a persistently tough automotive environment and an uneven industrial cycle — even as demand for data-center solutions stays firm.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?
On valuation, MWB notes the shares change hands at around 16 times enterprise value to segment result for 2027.
The stock itself has had a bruising stretch. Last week it came under heavy pressure and at one point brought up the rear of the DAX, weighed down by interest-rate anxiety following US inflation data and a broad selloff across the chip sector about a week earlier. Friday's session brought modest relief: the shares added 1.0% to EUR 52.08, though a failed breakout earlier left the price below its longer-term trend lines. At minus 8.2% from its 200-day moving average, the technical picture heading into the numbers remains strained.
A separate reading of the day's trading put the gain at 1.3%, with the stock at EUR 52.23 — still some 42% below the 52-week high struck in June. Market watchers are framing the current phase as a necessary consolidation, with the company's technological positioning in core industrial markets seen as the key swing factor for the medium term.
Silicon Carbide and Dresden Set the Stage
Operationally, Infineon continues to shore up access to critical semiconductor materials. On October 15 the company agreed with Wolfspeed to extend their collaboration over multiple years, covering 200-millimeter silicon carbide wafers. The material is intended to support the manufacturing transition at sites including Kulim in Malaysia, serving rising demand from electric vehicles, renewable energy and data centers. Neither partner disclosed financial terms or delivery volumes.
All of this funnels into November 10, when Infineon presents results for the fiscal year just ended. Management has held out the prospect of record revenue of around EUR 16.3 billion. Additional momentum is expected from the Dresden plant opened in July, with particular attention on the growing business supplying power components for AI servers.
