Infineon Pushes Deeper Into Vehicle Power Distribution as Analysts Trim Targets
Published on 10/28/2026 at 10:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deInfineon Technologies has rolled out a new MOSFET family aimed at semiconductor-based power distribution in electric and software-defined vehicles, extending its reach into applications where chips take over the job of routing electrical energy around the car. The LinearFET line, unveiled yesterday, targets exactly that shift away from conventional wiring architectures.
The launch landed alongside a second product announcement: a reference design for powering enterprise servers and edge AI systems. Dubbed M-CRPS, the design delivers 5.6 kilowatts and, according to the company, reaches a peak efficiency above 98%. Infineon also highlighted its high power density.
GaN Bet Anchored in Villach
Both novelties sit on top of a much larger manufacturing commitment. Infineon has earmarked roughly EUR 1.1 billion for its Villach site, a programme running through 2034 that would establish Europe's first high-volume production of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimeter wafers. Output is scheduled to begin at the end of 2027, and Brussels has approved EUR 319 million in support for the project. The spending is therefore about building capacity, while the vehicle and server products address concrete end uses.
GaN technology also underpins the expanded cooperation with NVIDIA announced a little over a week ago, covering GaN-based power conversion systems for 800-volt direct-current architectures in AI data centers. The tie-up and the Villach plan pull in the same direction: one applies GaN in conversion systems, the other scales its manufacture.

Susquehanna Cuts Target, Keeps Positive Stance
Against that product momentum, Susquehanna lowered its price target on Infineon on 21 October to EUR 85 from EUR 100, according to media reports, while leaving its "Positive" rating in place. The reduced marker thus came without any change to the investment verdict.
Separately, The Goldman Sachs Group reported a change in its overall position in Infineon, disclosing a threshold crossing on 20 October with a total stake of 4.81%, down from 5.36% previously.
The shares rose 2.9% yesterday to close at EUR 52.30.

Munich Showcase and the November Calendar
Infineon will present further solutions at electronica in Munich from 10 to 13 November, a showcase it flagged on 14 October. Physical AI and robotics, mobility, and power supply infrastructure for AI applications top the agenda, with both solutions and semiconductor innovations planned for those fields.
Investors will get their next hard numbers on 10 November 2026, when the company releases its quarterly figures.
