Infineon Rides SK Hynix Wave as Susquehanna Trims Target and Goldman Stake Slips
Published on 10/28/2026 at 13:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deInfineon shares climbed 2.1% on Wednesday, lifted by a sector-wide tailwind after South Korean memory giant SK Hynix posted record quarterly figures that Reuters said shored up sentiment across AI and semiconductor names. The German chipmaker's advance came even as one brokerage cut its price target on the stock and a major shareholder disclosed a reduced position.
SK Hynix reported revenue of 104.6155 trillion won for the third quarter of 2026, alongside an operating profit of 83.3338 trillion won. Reuters also flagged a shareholder return plan announced by the company. The results rippled through the chip complex, giving Infineon a lift from the industry backdrop rather than from any company-specific development.
Susquehanna Lowers Bar but Keeps Faith
Susquehanna cut its price target on Infineon to EUR 85 from EUR 100 on 21 October, according to media reports, while leaving its "Positive" rating in place. The reduction in the target therefore did not come with a change in the investment verdict.
The stock had closed at EUR 52.30 on the previous day, up 2.9%.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?
Separately, a mandatory disclosure showed a shift in the position held by The Goldman Sachs Group. The new aggregate holding stands at 4.81%, down from 5.36% previously, with the threshold touched on 20 October.
Villach Bet Anchors the Growth Case
At the operating level, Infineon's announced expansion of GaN production in Villach ranks among its headline corporate news. The company plans to invest roughly EUR 1.1 billion at the site through 2034, building Europe's first high-volume manufacturing line for GaN power semiconductors.
Production is slated for 300-millimeter wafers, with Infineon targeting the end of 2027 to begin output. The commitment is therefore a multi-year investment horizon rather than a facility already in production, spanning the location, the manufacturing technology and a planned start date.
Infineon at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Roughly a week earlier, Infineon also announced an expanded collaboration with NVIDIA covering power conversion systems for direct-current architectures in AI data centers. The partnership is geared toward 800-volt architectures. Both the NVIDIA tie-up and the Villach plan center on GaN technology — one addressing its use in power conversion, the other aimed at building high-volume manufacturing capacity.
November in the Crosshairs
Investors now look to 10 November 2026, when Infineon is scheduled to publish results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 alongside figures for the full 2025/26 financial year.
