Infineon shares shed 2.7% on Friday to close at €48.55, caught in a broad technology selloff that swept the semiconductor sector. According to dpa-AFX, investors are questioning whether the industry's hefty AI investments will pay off, and buying interest stayed thin after the Nasdaq's slide. Reports pointed to rising interest rates sharpening doubts about short-term returns on that spending. No fresh company-specific news was cited as the trigger — the decline was chalked up to the global chip rout and a falling semiconductor index.

Wolfspeed Agreement Backs a Manufacturing Shift

Behind the price action, the Munich-based chipmaker has been busy lining up its supply chain. On October 15, Infineon and Wolfspeed signed a multi-year agreement covering 200-millimeter silicon carbide wafers. The deal is designed to broaden procurement and support the conversion of SiC production from 150mm to 200mm, with Infineon framing it as a way to make its supply lines more resilient.

Physical AI Lab Opens to European Startups

Infineon is also courting the startup world. Alongside UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft and NVIDIA, it launched the "Physical AI Growth Lab" for European startups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI — an effort that extends the company's existing work with young firms and artificial intelligence applications. Participation is free and requires no equity stake, and the program is slated to run from January through April 2027.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?

AdapTronics Tops Robotics Challenge

Humanoid robotics featured in Infineon's recent announcements as well. On October 19, the company named the winners of its Startup Challenge 2026, drawing more than 100 startups from 29 countries. AdapTronics took first place with a gripping technology, followed by COSMOKE in second and TECHiFAB in third.

November 10 Looms for Full-Year Results

The next confirmed date on the corporate calendar is November 10, when Infineon will publish results for the fourth quarter and the 2026 fiscal year.
