A broad recovery across global semiconductor markets lifted Kioxia shares on Friday, with the Japanese memory maker climbing 2.2 percent to EUR 98.00 as investors rediscovered their appetite for storage and chip stocks.

The advance carried the stock comfortably above its 200-day moving average of EUR 82.24, a level that underscores how far the shares have traveled during the sector's rebound. The tailwind was hardly isolated to Kioxia: peers including Micron, SanDisk and SK Hynix all booked gains of their own, recovering ground lost during an earlier stretch of weakness.

Nvidia Commentary Fuels the Mood

What gave the rally its spark, according to media accounts, were remarks from Nvidia chief Jensen Huang pointing to mounting demand for artificial intelligence chips. That commentary injected fresh confidence into investors and channeled new buying interest toward Kioxia specifically.

The stock's Friday close also left it hovering near its 50-day average of EUR 98.61, a sign that the shares are consolidating recent strength rather than extending it. No company-specific catalyst was cited in market reports for the day's move, which fits neatly into the broader industry pattern.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kioxia?

LD4 Series Marks a First for the Company

Kioxia paired the market momentum with a product announcement of its own. The company introduced the LD4 series — its first E1.L solid-state drives — built on the eighth generation of BiCS FLASH QLC memory and engineered for hyperscale data centers.

Samples of the new drives, at capacities of 15.36 terabytes and 30.72 terabytes, are already shipping to select customers for evaluation. The underlying architecture is designed to support total storage volumes of up to 122.88 terabytes, a ceiling that reflects the technical capability of the system design rather than a commitment to any specific launch date. Through these models, Kioxia is courting operators of large cloud and server infrastructures grappling with rapidly expanding storage requirements.

San Jose Stage for AI Storage Push

The drives will get their public debut at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose, running from October 12 to 15, where data center technology providers and users gather. Kioxia's subsidiary, KIOXIA America, will use the event to showcase storage solutions tailored to artificial intelligence workloads — a deliberate play to deepen its footprint in modern server architectures.

Earnings and the Road Ahead

Attention now shifts to the company's financial calendar. Kioxia has scheduled the release of its second-quarter results for the 2026 fiscal year on October 30. That report should shed light on how the recent pickup in memory demand is translating into the company's bottom line.
