Kioxia stock slid 5.1% to EUR 87.45 amid a broad Asian chip selloff, even as S&P raised its rating to BBB with a positive outlook.

A broad selloff across Asian semiconductor names dragged Kioxia Holdings lower in the latest session, with the memory maker's stock finishing down 5.1% at EUR 87.45. The decline extended the gap between the current price and the 52-week high of EUR 207.00 to 58%.

The pullback came on the same day the company delivered two pieces of constructive news, underscoring the disconnect between trading sentiment and operational momentum.

S&P Raises the Bar

S&P Global Ratings lifted its long-term issuer credit rating on Kioxia to "BBB," attaching a positive outlook to the assessment. The agency pointed to robust demand for flash memory and SSDs tied to AI workloads, along with the company's solid net cash position, as the pillars behind the upgrade.

That endorsement landed alongside a fresh product announcement from Kioxia Corporation. The manufacturer is broadening its CM9 enterprise SSD family with variants engineered for direct liquid cooling. Built in the E3.S form factor, these drives support cold-plate cooling systems and deliver capacities of up to 30.72 terabytes for read-intensive workloads and 25.6 terabytes for mixed-use scenarios. Samples are already reaching select customers.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kioxia?

The cooling-focused expansion follows a separate launch from the prior week. On October 9, Kioxia introduced the LD4 series of QLC SSDs in the E1.L form factor, aimed squarely at hyperscale data centers. Those drives start at 15.36 and 30.72 terabytes, with the validated architecture scaling up to 122.88 terabytes. Sample shipments to select large-volume buyers are underway there as well.

A Manufacturing Milestone

Earlier in the month, on October 1, the company flagged another achievement on the production front. Its Kitakami facility, operated by Kioxia Iwate, earned Platinum status from the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) for the third time, following an audit conducted in August.

Technicals Tighten

From a chart perspective, the latest decline has pushed the stock just below a closely watched level. With the drop, the shares sit 0.044% under their 200-day moving average of EUR 83.26 — a zone that could prove pivotal for near-term direction.

Part of the recent pressure traces back to reports that Chinese rival CXMT is making headway in DRAM, which unsettled investors, according to Reuters. Media accounts also pointed to forced liquidations of leveraged positions as a factor amplifying the slide. Such sector-wide anxieties and market cleanups say little about Kioxia's own competitive standing.

What Comes Next

Investors will get a clearer read on the business at month's end. Kioxia Holdings has scheduled the release of its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 for October 30 at 18:45 Japan Standard Time.
