Lenovo Locks In Asian Games Role as Server Shipments Outpace the Field

Lenovo shares climb toward a 52-week high as an Olympic Council of Asia partnership and surging x86 server demand lift the PC and server maker.

Lenovo's stock has been grinding higher on a pair of very different catalysts. The Hong Kong-listed PC and server maker added 2.1% on Monday to reach EUR 4.12, then tacked on another 2.0% on Tuesday to close at EUR 4.11 — a run that has left the shares just 2.4% shy of their 52-week high of EUR 4.21.

The more recent leg of the advance traces back to a deal announced Sunday. Lenovo will serve as "Official Solutions and Services Partner" of the Olympic Council of Asia through 2030, deepening its ties to the governing body of the Olympic movement across the continent. The agreement slots into a broader sports-technology portfolio that already includes the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games.

That push extends to the regional level as well. Lenovo Japan said Monday it will back the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games, supplying PC hardware, related services and IT solutions as a "Tier 4 Official Supplier."

Server Business Steals the Show

While the sponsorship news drove the latest gains, the company's infrastructure arm has been the more consequential story. Management has signaled that revenue growth in the Infrastructure Solutions Group is accelerating, and IDC data backs that up: Lenovo claimed the global top spot in x86 servers for the second quarter of 2026, with shipments up 45.6% year over year.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenovo?

Finance chief Wai-Ming Cheng pointed to concrete customer orders for AI infrastructure and argued that the international expansion in that segment is only just beginning. Back on September 17, Cheng had already flagged that the group's valuation sits well below Dell's.

Media reports suggest the trend is showing up in the latest quarterly figures for fiscal 2026/27's first quarter, which reflect a 43% increase versus the prior-year period. Driving that jump is the sweeping overhaul of data centers worldwide, as operators shift toward highly specialized hardware built for artificial intelligence. Corporate customers modernizing their infrastructure and expanding existing capacity are opening up clear market opportunities for Lenovo. Adjusted net profit for the quarter climbed 176%.

Legal Clarity and a Channel Partnership

On the legal front, Lenovo has asked a federal court in California to dismiss a case alleging patent infringement tied to laptops, removing an overhang that had clouded the stock.

Separately, the company reported a new addition to its partner network. Schneider Electric has joined the Lenovo 360 Circle initiative as a strategic partner, a tie-up aimed at giving IT resellers deeper expertise in decarbonization while handing them management tools to pursue sustainability and emissions-reduction goals.

Momentum Built on Analyst Upgrades

The recent operational announcements are landing in an already supportive market environment. Roughly three weeks ago, upgrades from investment banks gave the stock meaningful tailwind, and the shares have climbed 15.1% since. Tuesday's gain extends that upward trend and brings the stock back within striking distance of its 52-week peak.
