Lenovo says over half its China notebooks now ship with built-in AI, as AI-PC market share jumps 86% and AI products reach 35% of sales.

More than half of every Lenovo notebook sold in China now carries built-in artificial intelligence, the company's China president Liu Jun disclosed, marking a symbolic threshold for a PC maker that has spent the past year repositioning itself around the AI decade.

The figure arrives alongside a striking global statistic: Lenovo's worldwide share of the AI-PC market climbed 86% year over year. On the software side, the group is widening the capabilities of its Tianxi AI system, pushing the platform toward handling tasks with greater autonomy.

A Stock That Has Nearly Quadrupled

Investors have already priced in much of the optimism. Lenovo shares have surged 289% since the start of the year, though the stock gave back 4.4% in the latest session to close at EUR 4.00. The retreat followed a Friday session in which the paper advanced 3.8% to finish at EUR 4.20, buoyed by sustained demand for data-center hardware and commercial AI applications.

That demand has reshaped the company's revenue mix. AI-related products now account for 35% of total sales, according to company statements, while the infrastructure solutions division has lifted profitability to a record level.

Enterprise Push: New Servers, Ducati, and a Fast Company Nod

Lenovo moved on September 16 to deepen its footprint in the corporate segment, rolling out an updated ThinkAgile infrastructure line together with expanded Express solutions. The offerings, bundled with implementation services, are aimed at giving business customers more resilience, flexibility and control over their in-house IT environments.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenovo?

The company's computing muscle is also finding an unlikely showcase in motorsport. Ducati Corse is relying on Lenovo's high-performance computing infrastructure to design and develop its 2027 racing motorcycle. Days earlier, on September 9, Lenovo earned a place on Fast Company's innovation list.

At its own IFA trade-fair showcase earlier in the month, Lenovo unveiled its latest business portfolio, headlined by hybrid AI solutions for enterprises. The presentations spanned AI-equipped work devices and displays as well as new IT security technologies.

Those product launches were reinforced by the outcome of an industry-wide benchmark study covering roughly 600 companies. In mid-September Lenovo scored 87.51 points overall to take first place — a result the company said matched its leading ratings from prior years.

Services Leadership and a Smart-City Blueprint

Beyond hardware, Lenovo is pressing ahead with networking in the infrastructure and services arena. Research by analyst firm IDC placed its service solutions unit first in China's IT services market, where it also posted the sector's highest annual growth rate.

Large-scale platform projects are part of the same strategy. In Shanghai, Lenovo signed an agreement to build a cross-cutting architecture for intelligent city administration in the Hongkou district. The system follows a model in which a central coordination hub works in tandem with specialized units covering areas such as green digital energy, traffic management, and cloud solutions for schools and medical facilities.

At its annual supplier conference in Wuhan, management reaffirmed the strategic pivot toward the coming AI decade before more than 1,400 partners.

What to Watch on October 29

Market attention is now shifting to whether the operating momentum can be sustained. Lenovo plans to publish its next financial report on October 29, according to media reports. After record figures in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026/27, investors will be watching whether the strong growth in AI orders and data-center infrastructure carries into the second half of the year.

The broader backdrop favors that thesis. As AI monetization spreads across Asia's electronics sector, market watchers see it as a key driver of future hardware investment — an opening Lenovo is using to establish higher-value IT solutions and computer products in the market.
