Lenovo's Server Story Gets a Double Endorsement While the PC Business Sends a Warning
Published on 11/01/2026 at 14:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deTwo Wall Street houses have thrown their weight behind Lenovo's server ambitions within days of each other, even as the company's core PC business faces mounting pressure from rising memory costs and softer demand.
Bank of America Securities lifted its forecasts for adjusted net profit across fiscal years 2027 through 2029 by 3% to 9% on Tuesday, reaffirming both its buy rating and a HK$46 price target. The bank pointed to demand for AI servers from cloud and "neocloud" providers, along with the growth prospects of Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group, as the rationale behind the upgrade.
Morgan Stanley followed suit the same day, raising its Lenovo price target to HK$49, according to media reports. The brokerage likewise flagged AI server demand from cloud and neocloud operators as a potential prop for the Infrastructure Solutions Group.
PC Shipments Take a Sharp Step Back
The bullish server narrative stands in contrast to the picture painted by Counterpoint Research on October 22. Lenovo shipped 15 million devices in the third quarter of 2026, a 23% decline year over year. Worldwide PC shipments fell 21% to 57 million units over the same period. Counterpoint cited rising memory prices and weaker demand as the drags on the market.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenovo?
Those cost pressures have not stayed contained within quarterly shipment data. Intel's outlook, released Friday, pointed to continued weakness in the PC market, and the combination of AI-driven memory demand pushing up component costs while PC appetite softens sent ripples through the hardware sector.
A Sector-Wide Retreat, Not a Lenovo-Specific One
Lenovo shares fell 7.9% on Friday, caught in a broad selloff across AI and technology names. Investors questioned the returns on heavy AI spending following Alphabet's results, and the outflow from AI-linked positions weighed on sentiment across the board. The decline was tied to doubts about the economics of AI investment rather than any fresh company announcement from Lenovo itself.
Other PC and technology hardware stocks also came under pressure on the same day, according to media reports. The selloff was sector-wide in nature, with Intel's guidance serving as the immediate trigger for hardware names.
Shopping Recommendations Built Into the Device
On the product front, Glance announced Thursday an integration that will bring shopping recommendations to supported Lenovo PCs and tablets via Lenovo Qira. Purchase completion and payment remain on the respective retailers' websites, meaning the tie-up covers the recommendation layer on supported devices while checkout stays with the merchants.
Lenovo has also expanded its AI Library with validated enterprise AI use cases. The collection now spans applications for retail, manufacturing, customer service, and IT operations, according to company statements.

Calendar Items and Recognition
Roughly two weeks ago, Lenovo announced the return of its Tech World event to CES 2027 in Las Vegas. The gathering is scheduled for January 6, 2027, with chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang set to deliver the keynote.
On Wednesday, the company said Forbes had included it in its list of the world's best companies for women, where Lenovo placed 18th globally.
