Lenzing Puts Its €301 Million to Work as Skilich Buys In at the Issue Price
Published on 10/24/2026 at 14:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing has closed the books on its rights issue, and the first insider trade has already landed at the same price the new shares were sold for. Supervisory board member Christian Skilich picked up 1,710 shares on the Vienna Stock Exchange yesterday at EUR 8.65 apiece — precisely the issue price of the new stock from the completed capital increase.
That purchase is a personal transaction and says nothing about where earnings are headed. It sits alongside, not inside, the corporate-level story: the balance-sheet repair and the production reshuffle now under way.
99% Take-Up, EUR 301.2 Million Gross
The company placed 34,756,362 new shares at EUR 8.65 each, pulling in a gross issue proceeds of roughly EUR 301.2 million. Shareholders exercised subscription rights for 99% of the offering, with the syndicate banks selling the remainder in the market. Lenzing intends to channel the money into its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and into shoring up its capital structure.
Raising the cash is one thing; delivering on the strategy is another. For investors, the successful placement answers only the funding question — how the announced measures actually show up in the business is a separate matter. Reuters, in its coverage, focused on the scale of the transaction and the dilution it brings, a reminder that the move touches existing holders' stake in the company, not just its financing.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?
Settlement Tied to a Registry Entry
The mechanics of the transaction have their own timetable. Settlement and delivery of the new shares, along with their admission to trading, were slated for yesterday — but Lenzing had explicitly conditioned that schedule on the capital increase being entered in the commercial register. Wednesday's company statement set out both the result of the offering and the intended sequence of next steps, with the registry entry as the precondition for the announced date. The successful completion of the offer and the start of trading are therefore distinct stages of the transaction, not one and the same event.
Heiligenkreuz Runs Until End of Q1 2027
On the operational side, the restructuring has a concrete piece: the Heiligenkreuz site. According to media reports, Lenzing confirmed on Thursday that production there will stop at the end of the first quarter of 2027. Until then, the company plans to build up inventories and shift output to other Lenzing locations.
That makes the site plan a transition rather than an immediate halt — stockpiling and relocation are meant to precede the shutdown. And a confirmed plan is not the same as a realized earnings effect; none can be read off the announcement itself.
A 4.01% Stake, With a Caveat
Running in parallel with the settlement, Lenzing published a fresh voting-rights notification concerning Goldman Sachs. The total position reported as of Tuesday came to 4.01%, split between 2.59% in shares and 1.43% in financial instruments.
The breakdown matters. That headline figure should not be equated with a stake held purely in stock, and the mandatory disclosure says nothing on its own about how Goldman Sachs views Lenzing's business prospects. It documents a voting position, not an analyst recommendation — and a larger reported position alone does not imply an operational improvement.

The Next Real Test
The next scheduled company event is the release of third-quarter 2026 results on November 5, 2026, which will bring operating reporting back to the fore alongside the corporate-law wrap-up of the capital measure.
Keeping the threads apart is the useful discipline here: the capital increase describes the financing, the voting-rights filing the reported ownership structure, and the production plan the changes still to be executed. The quarterly figures will supply the occasion to judge how the business is actually performing. Skilich's share purchase adds one more individual data point — but it substitutes for neither earnings numbers nor an assessment of progress on the turnaround.
