Novo Nordisk Slips as Profit-Taking Bites, With ObesityWeek and a CFO Handover on the Horizon
Published on 11/05/2026 at 20:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deShares in Novo Nordisk fell 3.9% on Wednesday, surrendering part of the previous session's post-earnings advance as investors booked profits, according to media reports. Analysts also flagged concerns about growth in 2027, pricing pressure and competition.
The pullback came a day after the Danish drugmaker reported third-quarter 2026 results. Adjusted operating profit rose 27% at constant exchange rates, while reported operating profit fell 9%, weighed down by non-cash impairments. Novo Nordisk attributed the quarter's development to GLP-1 volume growth, particularly in obesity. Adjusted revenue for the period came in at DKK 79.2 billion, adjusted operating profit reached DKK 31.72 billion, and the Wegovy pill generated DKK 5.39 billion in sales.
Two Houses, Two Directions
Deutsche Bank raised its price target to DKK 240 from DKK 225 on Wednesday but kept its sell rating, leaving its stance cautious despite the higher mark. UBS moved the other way, trimming its target to DKK 312 from DKK 332 while maintaining a neutral rating. Both firms adjusted their valuation marks rather than their recommendations. Media reports also noted that several analyst houses reiterated their hold ratings following the guidance lift, with targets spanning DKK 275 to DKK 350.
Alongside the quarterly figures, Novo Nordisk lifted its full-year 2026 outlook. It now expects adjusted revenue and adjusted operating profit to develop between -2% and +2% at constant exchange rates, compared with a prior range of -6% to unchanged. The new band still leaves room for either a decline or growth.

Washington Sets the Next Test
Attention now shifts to ObesityWeek in Washington, scheduled for 14–17 November. Novo Nordisk said on 29 October that it will present 26 abstracts on its obesity portfolio at the congress, including data on CagriSema and Wegovy. The event is not an announced approval milestone; its potential value lies in rounding out the picture of the products and their prospects. Whether it strengthens the case for the stock will depend on the content of the presentations rather than the number of abstracts.
The central yardstick remains whether higher sales volumes can keep translating into rising earnings. Scientific results and business performance are different planes: a compelling presentation would not by itself prove that the recent profit growth will continue. In a favourable scenario, convincing data would broaden the basis for confidence beyond the latest quarter. In the less favourable one, the improved business trend would remain the main supporting evidence, and the uncertainty visible in the annual guidance would persist.
Research Pact With Korro Bio to End
Separately, Novo Nordisk notified Korro Bio on Tuesday that it is terminating their research collaboration and licence agreement, according to a mandatory disclosure Korro filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that was published on Wednesday. The termination takes effect on 1 February 2027. Korro said Novo Nordisk will reimburse certain wind-down costs and costs from commitments already entered into, and that no termination penalty is payable for the early exit.

CFO Change Announced
Novo Nordisk also said on Tuesday that Chief Financial Officer Karsten Munk Knudsen will leave the company after 27 years. He is to stay until the end of December 2026. Luigi La Corte, currently CFO of Galderma, has been named as his successor. For investors, the handover concerns future financial steering and communication; the personnel decision alone says nothing about whether the operating business will improve or deteriorate, and it should not be conflated with the question of product strength.
