Nvidia shares were changing hands at €186.44 on Thursday, caught in a sector-wide reassessment that has little to do with the company's own order book and everything to do with what its customers are spending to fill it.

The trigger came from two directions. Intel's disappointing fourth-quarter profit forecast drove a sharp slide in its own stock that led the broader semiconductor selloff, according to Reuters, while Amazon's heavy AI-related expenditure and outlook fed the same anxiety, AP reported. Worries about elevated interest rates could further slow data-center construction, the report added.

For Nvidia, the distinction matters. Ambitious build-out plans demonstrate partners' intentions, but they do not by themselves answer whether those projects will pay off. That question is what is driving investor reaction right now — not any fresh business figure from the chipmaker itself.

Concrete Commitments Keep Coming

Set against that more skeptical mood, Nvidia's own announcements point in the opposite direction. On Tuesday the company said it would work with Oracle to scale OCI Superclusters built on Vera-Rubin systems to a multi-gigawatt footprint, with the relevant systems and Vera processors already generally available on OCI.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

The same day brought a $3 billion investment in Meta's stock offering, paired with an expansion of the two companies' collaboration on Meta's Muse models and the AI infrastructure behind them. Meta plans wider deployment of Nvidia's Vera-Rubin systems, Vera CPUs and networking products — a tie-up spanning both model development and the hardware underneath it. The equity stake complements the commercial relationship.

Investors should keep the announced commitment separate from the execution. Nvidia has disclosed the investment; the broader product rollout is described as a plan. Neither yields realized revenue or a concrete earnings contribution today.

Supply Chain Prepares for Volume

Capacity work is proceeding in parallel. On October 21, Nvidia disclosed agreements with manufacturing partners including IBIDEN, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Unimicron and KYEC, covering substrates, packaging and semiconductor testing — the groundwork for further AI infrastructure expansion.

Those arrangements address technical deliverability. Thursday's selling pressure shows that investors are weighing more than that: financing costs and the prospect of actual returns are now part of the calculation.

Huang Defends Megaspeed Ties

Questions about control of Nvidia's chip shipments are running alongside the expansion. On Wednesday, Jensen Huang called the company's business relationship with Singapore-based Megaspeed International "normal and not unusual," and said Nvidia had examined whether its chips were being illegally diverted to China, Reuters reported.

His remarks followed reports of a US investigation into a former Megaspeed executive. The distinction is worth stating plainly: a probe targeting a former executive at the company is not the same as established wrongdoing by Nvidia, and Huang's reference to internal checks does not by itself settle every question about how the chips are used. He defended the relationship and pointed to reviews of possible illegal diversion; nothing in his comments speaks to the outcome of the reported investigation.

Nvidia at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

November 17 Is the Next Hard Number

Nvidia has scheduled a conference call for November 17 at 2 p.m. Pacific time to discuss results for the third quarter of fiscal 2027, a period that ended October 25.

That release is the next concrete opportunity to judge the financial trajectory against the partnership announcements. Until then, Huang's supply-control comments and the agreed Meta expansion sit on different levels of the same investor question: how to value Nvidia's expansion while keeping control risks in view. The partnerships describe commercial opportunity; the checks define the conditions under which it operates.

What the market made clear on Thursday is that announcements alone will not dispel concerns about cost and return. The tension for Nvidia now runs between a lengthening list of build-out commitments and rising demands that those commitments prove profitable.
