Nvidia Sets October 16 Ship Date for RTX Spark PCs as Reflection AI Talks Stay Unresolved

Nvidia and Microsoft unveiled RTX Spark Windows PCs with pre-orders open and shipping set for Oct 16, as Reflection AI talks remain unsigned.

Nvidia and Microsoft have moved their jointly developed Windows machines one step closer to store shelves, unveiling the devices on Wednesday and opening pre-orders for the Surface Laptop Ultra alongside a wider slate of RTX Spark-equipped PCs. Shipping is slated to begin October 16, giving investors a firm product milestone at a time when Nvidia's other potential commitments remain the subject of negotiation rather than signed agreements.

The distinction matters. Pre-orders and actual deliveries are separate stages: customers can place orders now, but units are not expected to move until the announced date. That puts the PC rollout on fundamentally different footing from a possible acquisition, where structure and terms are still being discussed. Microsoft's order book is not limited to its own Surface Laptop Ultra — the pre-order window covers additional Windows machines carrying RTX Spark, meaning the October 16 delivery date applies to a broader hardware lineup, not just the flagship Surface model.

Networking Platform Adds a Second Timeline

Nvidia's technology is also surfacing in a separate deployment. Upscale AI, a company Nvidia backs, introduced its Token Fabric networking platform on Thursday. According to Reuters, the system is designed to link AI chips from multiple vendors, pairing Upscale's networking silicon and software with hardware running NVIDIA Spectrum-X. Upscale said rollout will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with further phases staggered into 2027.

For Nvidia, the Spectrum-X integration is the tangible hook. The announcement describes a staged introduction rather than a completed, broad-based deployment — a longer arc than the imminent PC shipments.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

Reflection AI: Options on the Table, Nothing Signed

Talks over Reflection AI, reported Wednesday, round out the picture — but no deal has been agreed. Reuters, citing the Financial Times, described early-stage discussions that could take the form of a larger stake, the provision of computing capacity, or an outright purchase. Bloomberg reported that no terms have been settled. Reuters said it could not independently verify the account and noted the talks may fall apart. Neither Nvidia nor Reflection AI commented initially.

The range of possible outcomes carries different weight for shareholders. A bigger investment is not the same as buying the company, and an acqui-hire aimed at securing staff cannot be equated with a completed takeover. Because the discussions are at an early stage, they offer no reliable basis for gauging financial consequences — and investors should not extrapolate a fixed transaction structure from the options under discussion, nor book additional revenue against them.

OpenAI Revenue Report Resets the Bar

How sensitive sentiment around AI spending has become was on display Thursday, when media reports put OpenAI's annualized revenue at roughly $50 billion, down from the $68 billion previously signaled. The report was cited as a trigger for a selloff across the AI sector that also weighed on Nvidia. Those figures pertain to OpenAI, not to Nvidia's own reported sales, but they frame the stock's backdrop: Friday's coverage described cooling enthusiasm for AI investments following the revenue disclosure. The closing price of EUR 204.80 reflects Friday's market level, not the financial impact of any potential Reflection AI transaction.

Separately, Nvidia announced on Thursday $1 billion in commitments over five years for U.S. science and superintelligence research, spanning quantum computing, healthcare, and energy security.

Two distinct news streams therefore sit side by side: confirmed product launches with execution dates, and a possible deal with no agreement in place. The next hard date on the calendar is the planned start of RTX Spark PC deliveries on October 16.
