OHB's Satellite Fleet Hits Target Size While Rocket Unit Gets a New Pilot

Two operational milestones landed within days of each other at OHB SE this month, yet the Bremen-based space group's stock tells a more cautious story. Shares closed Friday at EUR 158.40, a level that still leaves the equity up 35% since the start of the year — but recent sessions have seen the stock under pressure as investors weigh completed missions against the earnings picture due next month.
The most tangible of those achievements came from OHB Italia, which launched the final batch of satellites for its Eaglet-II constellation on October 1. With those spacecraft in orbit, the network built for Italy's IRIDE Earth-observation program has reached its full planned strength of 24 units. OHB Italia developed, integrated and now operates the entire constellation.
Separately, Luxembourg-based subsidiary LuxSpace — working alongside the University of the Bundeswehr Munich — placed the small satellite ATHENE-1 into low Earth orbit aboard the Transporter-18 mission roughly two weeks ago. The platform is carrying 22 scientific experiments spanning communications, networking, reconnaissance and navigation, with additional trials focused on artificial intelligence for data processing.
Both programs reinforce OHB's standing as a supplier of modular small satellites for civilian and institutional customers. The catch, as market participants see it, is that pure technology demonstrations do not automatically translate into quantifiable follow-on orders — a nuance that has kept sentiment in check even as the hardware keeps delivering.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying OHB SE?
New Leadership at the Rocket Builder
Away from the satellite side, the supervisory board of Rocket Factory Augsburg — an OHB affiliate — appointed Alexander Dahm as its new chief executive about a week ago. Dahm takes over from Prof. Dr. Indulis Kalnins and inherits responsibility for the rocket builder's ongoing development work and the maiden flight of the RFA ONE launch vehicle.
That handover comes at a capital-intensive moment. Launch-vehicle development demands heavy upfront spending, and the market is pricing in the execution risks that come with it. Installing fresh leadership at this stage is intended to provide continuity as the program moves toward regular flight operations.
Ownership Steady, With KKR in the Back Seat
Underpinning the longer-term story is a shareholder base that has stayed remarkably stable. The founding Fuchs family continues to hold the majority of the company. Financial investor KKR holds its stake through Orchid Lux HoldCo S.à r.l. as a minority shareholder — a position the last half-year report put at roughly 20%, following a reduction. During an earlier capital increase, KKR also acted as a seller of existing shares to new investors. At current levels, OHB carries a market capitalization of EUR 3.29 billion.
OHB SE at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What investors are really waiting for, though, is the financial translation of these project wins. Reports point to third-quarter figures being published on November 11, while the company's own calendar marks November 12, 2026 for the nine-month results. Either way, the coming weeks should bring the fundamental clarity that the stock has been missing — and give shareholders a clearer read on whether the orbital progress is showing up on the bottom line.
