OHB SE shares bore the brunt of a broad retreat in European aerospace and defence names, closing Wednesday at EUR 222.00 — a drop of 9.9%. Media reports covering the move pointed to no company-specific trigger, framing it instead as pressure across the sector, with Airbus, Leonardo and Thales also finishing lower. One reading offered in the coverage was profit-taking following the stock's sharp run-up beforehand.

The pullback came despite a busy stretch of corporate news. On Wednesday, OHB and Astroscale Holdings signed a letter of intent to explore joint work in space security, space situational awareness and in-orbit services. Both companies described the arrangement as a review of possible cooperation, and neither disclosed concrete projects nor order volumes. The agreement remains a declaration of intent rather than a firm contract.

MediaMobil Stake Extends Satellite Communications Push

Two days earlier, OHB struck a strategic partnership with MediaMobil Communication GmbH. Under a capital increase, the Bremen-based group is acquiring 25% of MediaMobil's shares. The two partners intend to deepen their collaboration in satellite communications, and OHB said the stake will bolster its own capabilities in that field.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying OHB SE?

On the analyst front, Jefferies reaffirmed its buy rating on OHB on Thursday and kept its price target at EUR 280, ahead of the company's third-quarter figures. Analyst Chloe Lemarie expected the positive trends from the first half to carry through, with particular attention to margin development. Her assessment was framed as an expectation for the upcoming release, not as reported quarterly results.

The confirmed rating and the Astroscale letter of intent had both already been public for two days before the sell-off, leaving the sector-wide drag as the explanation most consistent with the reporting.

Mainz Test Rig Cleared as Lunar Studies Advance

Operationally, OHB Digital Connect reported on 22 October that the modular test stand for rocket engine and stage testing under the Eu-BEST project had been erected in Mainz and given final acceptance. The European Union backed the venture with EUR 4.96 million. OHB Digital Connect was responsible for developing and building the mechanical structures, while project coordination sat with France's Eiffage Énergie Systèmes – Clemessy.

Roughly two weeks earlier, ESA commissioned OHB subsidiary OHB System to carry out feasibility and preliminary design studies for a potential lunar infrastructure known as OASIS. Investors now have a firm date to work toward: the nine-month figures are scheduled for 12 November.
